Those Bastards! My Baby came in last?!?!?!

But seriously though. Decent review. It is a little volatile, but that is a) something you can tune out with the suspension settings, and b) one of the main reasons I love it so much!

Not a bad read.

How'd you like "$304 increase from '08 price"? hmm, didn't know they made and 08 cr.

looks like by their dyno it's losing about 20%?

One theme that seems consistent through the most 1125 reviews is most say the best part of the bike is the engine.

Well done Rotax!

my 1125r dyno that same amount.

They people that dynoed it was a harley shop and they just got the thing. couldnt watch it either. so i dont take it to seriously.(still depressing some.) you want to think its perfect.

and im not sure what it was for a dyno either. im thinkin a 150 so that might have something to do with it.

Pretty good review. I think most of their nits were opinion.

I really enjoy a lightweight, hooligan bike. That's why I think I'd love the CR.

Who wants a sterile, boring, bike?

The flip side of that coin is that reviews of the XB always said the engine was the weak link in an otherwise unique, great-handling motorcycle. Now, you put a modern motor in a similar chassis and the powerplant becomes the "best" part?

Seems to me that most reviewers are very jaded when it comes to Buell products.

Agreed RBJ,

I do think just as people judge each other within just a few seconds of meeting so holds true for many emotional things. The Buell don't look very naked in that lineup and in the love it or hate it division your losing some minds before they give it a fair shake.

Handling was once the bragging point.

i think it was a great write up. it really shows how we like to rip it up and have a blast. instead of some conservative(sp?) putt putt(sp?)

I think the comment that most of the nits were opinion is dead on.

They like it, but they just can't bring themselves to admit it!

That is a little frustrating. Based strictly on their comments, the Buell sounds like the bike I would prefer. I've never ridden the others, but I plan a test ride on a Speed Triple this spring. The Tuono doesn't really appeal to me. I've tested the 1125R, the Speedy will have to be pretty f*cking good to top it.

I do wish Buell would drop the perimeter brakes though.

Racing pads are supposed to make the ZTL brake have better feel

The ZTL brake works very well. You have to understand that most people don't like "different". They get the impression that because it doesn't feel like the what they are used to that it's not good.

When I used to ride BMWs, it was the same thing with the Telelever front end and turn signals. Once you get used to them, they prove how much better they are.

Same goes with Buell. I think if they lived with one for awhile, they would see how good it is.

The price increase from 2008 is not meant to be on 2008 1125CR bikes, but rather the MSRP from Buell that was upped as of 01 January 2009 on 2009 model year bikes.

I have about 500 miles on my 09 1125R, and so far I love it. The opinions expressed in this review are pretty accurate I think. The ZTL2 brakes do have plenty of power, but they do take more lever travel to get it than lots of other bikes. The throttle response from closed to open at lower rpm is very abrupt. It has the same feel as a loose final drive chain, which it obviously isn't so it must be the fuel injection. I don't think it is nearly as noticeable at midrange rpm though. On the street, the springs are a bit stiff for an average weight human being.

In my limited experience with the 1125R, I also think that the rear brake has no feel at all. My front brake emits a squeal under light to moderate braking, but none under hard braking. The stopping power is progressive and powerful though. The mirrors vibrate so much at any engine speed above 2500 rpm that they are basically worthless. The oil level check procedure is more complex than it has a right to be. My check engine light came on for about 60 seconds today.

The list goes on, but what it comes down to is that if you want a bike that leaves little to complain about then you have to deal with the other aspect of a perfect machine. I have a 2002 Yamaha FZ1, and like my Whirlpool washer and dryer I expect it to perform flawlessly. I do the maintenance on it, and for what it is and how much it cost there is very little to complain about. However, when I see it in the garage I don't smile. I don't even acknowledge it. It has no soul...just an appliance. The 1125R makes me grin like I'm in a peep show booth thinking dirty thoughts. It is not perfect, but it is fantastic and more American than any other competitive sportbike sold today.

Magazine comparisons and dyno numbers be damned, think about why YOU spent your money and what YOU like about your bike and you'll be satified with it.

I for have never and will never fall into the trap of "defending" my Buells. Those of us that "get it" do so with heart, body, and soul. Those that don't, well they just don't..

I am actively involved in the sport bike scene in my city. I attend the bike nights, am active in the local forum site, etc. I have swapped bikes with all my friends, ridden the GSXRs, Katanas, Ninjas, et all...they do what they were designed to extremely well but they just don't have that Buell SOUL.

Every time I trade bikes with a friend, they can't stop smiling when we get to the next pit stop. They like their rides, spend thousands on accessorizing and customizing just like we do, but I dare say they just do not LOVE their machine like us Buelligans......

I have had all the niggly little troubles endemic to the 1125R so far, even more so than some as I had to have the mill pulled out of the frame and disassembled right down to the cases split.

I LOVE PERSEPHONE. I would not trade her for anything (well except for maybe a CR lol)}
