I'm going to replace my oil pump gear and I was thinking of installing adjustable P-Rods & tubes so I don't have to pull apart the rocker boxes for future cam up grade. I'm also thinking of installing a higher ratio roller rockers. I was hoping someone can tell me if anyone is making a P-Rod & tube conversion kit or can I take tubes from an older sporty? Thanks BILL

While you are in there replacing DRIVE GEAR,oil pump PN 26391-06, why not up-date oil pump to OIL PUMP COMPLETE PN 26357-02B which was the last oil pump factory up-grade before 2008 XBRR style oil pump came out in the XB engines ...

IMHO, "i" would never put adjustable push rods in and "i" would try to find someone that would make some solids to the length "i" needed ... Why make your valve train any heaver than it already is ??? TAKE THE ROCKER ARMS OFF !!!

If you are going to go to HIGH LIFT Cams, you do not need 1.75 to 1 Rocker Arms because the cams will give you the MAX. LIFT ...

I have "Zipper's" push rod tubes on my M2. I know they are available from Cycle Rama (where I got mine) or from just about any of this sites sponsors, or your local dealer.

+ 1 on buellistic --go with standard OEM push rod tubes or better adjustable is the easy way out and most likely u will regreat it ! He said heavier but I'am thinking weaker !!

i put summax pushrod tubes on mine,had to file the bottom end at an angle to get them to fit,without filing them they had a gap,and leaked oil,they do not sit at 90 degrees on the case,
i considered adjustable pushrods but went for alloy solid ones for lightness

+1 solid tubes, i have had a miserable time with the adjustable tubes, i get picked on by the nebo guys cause of the persistant oil leaks from the tubes, i am shortly installing awesome billet bases(available from abs) and black solid tubes (available from precisionhd/buell). i'm pulling the heads and getting a serdi radius valve job and port from the experts in the precision hd/buell machine shop before installation.

Why not do the cams at the same time as the opd gear? Especially on an M2, some of those cams have shown premature wear and failure.

Andrews makes good alloy pushrods. If you're keeping your hydraulic lifters there's no need for adjustable pushrods.

I kept the stock covers because I don't like leaks. I also don't like going back into my work so I prefer to do it all and do it right the first time.

If your M2 is an 00 you might also want to look into a set of 99 lifters as they are supposedly a little beefier.

Thanks for the advise. I was thinking adjustable P-rods for the easy cam swap. You guys know how it is... I need more power, I lost too much low end, I want a screamer, ect... I have used them in the big twins w/ no problems and I found when you go big on the cam with nonadjustable PRs I had a problem with lifters pumping up too much and causing a bad idle. As far as the high ratio roller rockers go, they are left overs from a t/cam I was going to use them in. So I thought if they fit, throw them in while I'm in their. I can get more lift without hurting my low end torque with duration I was thinking

Want low end GRUNT where you ride, well then keep your OEM M2 cams and put in 1.75 to 1 rocker arms from CRANE CAMS PN 4-1015 ...

Call Ross ex 4901 (386)252-1151, tell him LaFayette referred you ...

They are a easy install, have been running a set for years in my 97S3T and have them in my 2000 BLAST ...

Get a DYNO TEST to find out when engine quits making horse power and shift just before ...

Are you sure about that part number?

From the Crane website;

The rockers for a Shovelhead are Part No. 4-1005 and for an Evolution or Twin Cam engine, they are Part No. 4-1015 stock ratio or Part No. 4-1020 increased ratio.

i did a few posts on high ratio roller rockers a while back,put some se 536 cams in and put the high lift roller rockers on the inlet side only,you keep low down and mid range power and gain top end,win win,

Thanks Buellistic, That's what I was thinking. Like I mentioned, I already have a set of high ratio 1.75 roller rockers. I'm not sure what make but they came with hardened shafts. Does anybody know what that oil pump cost??? I checked a few catalog and web sites for 07 sporty oil pumps with no luck.

Here's a question for the Buell Guru's. What is the max lift a stock 02 M2 head can handle before the coil binds or valve float occurs???

I can say that I´m happy with my adjustable pushrods and matching tubes from Revolution Performance(tubes are actually made Zippers).
Together with roller rockers and the 536 cams/springs,they give me good all around power and a valve train that is not significant louder than it has been before my 1250cc conversion.
I must say that switching to the 1999 HD TC lifters 18538-99 helped a lot to get a quiet valve train.

I use zippers adjustable pushrods and covers on my drag bike with 730 lift cams and baisley rocker arms and valve train. With no problems.

No they are std heads done by baisley. I was just trying to make the poiint that even with that much lift I haven't had any issues with adj. Push rods
