AAAHHHH I liked the old man better he had like 3" of travel and 500lbs of raw metal not some 195lb 21" of travel suped up dirt bike. That being said he is still crazy as hell and it didn't stop me from watching either
Knievel's jump was a hoax. He did jump, it was the distance of the volcano, but it was next to it....
They showed animated version of what could happen...he makes it, he gets set on fire, on fire wreck, on fire not quite make landing ramp, and actually landing in the volcano. Never seen so much hype on the possibility of a wreck that wasn't even physically possible.
Knievel stunts are somewhat boring anymore compared to the likes of Robbie Maddison,Travis Pastrana and all those other back flipping Metal Mulisha types we have now . I think Maddison holds the world record for distance jumping at around 360 feet......yikes.
Brumbear, E.K. was not allowed to jump volcanoes. His big clankin' brass boys could fall and plug the hole in the valcano, this could be very bad. Robbie Maddison, Travis Pastrana, and the Metal Melisha types are great. But Evel was first, and IMHO the baddest s.o.b. of them all.
Somebody is gonna get killed with thousands of witnesses.....with these jumps going farther and higher...........and the gore seekers will still go home saying it was lame, regardless of the balls it takes to pull off a stunt.
I think Knievil has come to the end of his 15 minutes, he is doing far less on the same kind of bikes as the guys doing back flips (not like his dad that was on a big heavy HD).
Maybe the term "jumping the volcano" will kind of be like "jumping the shark".
I watched Robbie's jump as it happened on ESPN. It was awesome to see, my wife had to leave the room, she couldn't watch it until I told her he made it. It was the true essence of daredevil riding.
