Fired up the CR Sun no probs. Stopped for fuel,to start a day long ride. Started back up and then "system voltage" msg shows. BAT @ 122 goes down to 116. Glad only a few miles from the house. Got back home volt check shows 12.0. Charge back up for a few hours, up to 12.8. Take it back out for a ride BAT @ 122 goes down to 115. Do a charging check at 3600 RPM should be 14.3 - 14.7. Meter shows no charge at all. Dropped the CR @ the dealer today. 3400 miles so far. Hope they get it fixed soon and correctly. Just some info for you all. CR has been great until now. Hope this is all. Even bought a new Buell shirt before leaving !!!! C. (Message edited by cringblast on December 29, 2008) |

Unfortunately, it is the nature of machines to break. Something about the second law of thermodynamics..... Sorry for your troubles! R |

I suppose with wear, bit new ownership is supposed to have privileges, eg reliability. I with the afflicted few. |

Um, some of you are jumping the gun here. Sounds like a bad stator or VR. Shit happens and things sometimes break early. |

yeah the first day my buddy got his BRAND NEW 2008 GSXR 600, about 100mi into it, as he pulls into the garage, there is a big line of oil following him and when he stops the oil keeps coming...the dealer picks it up and finds out that the stator was loose(from the factory) and under the stresses of ridin, moved around so much to put a big crack in the stator cover, causing the oil to pour out(idk y??).. and now between 70-80mph his bike looses power and then jumps back to life after 80 and before 70 lol...and the dealer cant figure out y... USA ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!! Jake |

Cringblast...I bought a new 08 XB12Ss and within one week, the electrical issues showed up. After two weeks of searching for the problem at the dealer, they discover the stator assembly was missing a magnet. The dealer ordered a replacement, however, they did not overnight it. Another week went by. Bike is fine now. However I sent a professional letter to Mr. Erik Buell himself asking him how his quality control allowed a deficient supplier part to be installed on a new bike. No answer. |

i know how you feel just went and picked up my bike after them having it for two weeks. The only problem is i told them about your problem and all they did was change a battery that they had previously told me was a good one. My faithful old check engine light came on in the parking lot thats the one thing that hasent let me down on my bike. |

Got the CR back today. All's well, rode over 100 miles, everythings fine. When they brought it out I was checking everything and guess what ? THE IGNITION COVER PLUG IS MISSING. So I tell the service writer, there is a part missing from the ignition cover. They look for the plug and cant find it so they tell me, we'll have to order another one it will be 7 - 10 days. So I ask if they can get the plug off the CR on the show room floor? 5 min's later, PLUG INSTALLED. All's well !!!!!!!! C. (Message edited by cringblast on January 17, 2009) |

Well I wont say anything about the bolt I found between the front sprocket and the engine this morning. Only found it because of the grinding noise!! Bikes running great and the dealer took care of the probs. C |

Well I wont say anything about the bolt I found between the front sprocket and the engine this morning. Wait a second...You just did! Aside from how horrible that could have been, any idea what that bold is supposed to be threaded through? |

When I got the service paperwork there was an item for 1 hex screw for $1.86. Didnt get it at the time but see why now. It was a screw from the ignition cover. If u all take your bike in for warranty work Please Please check things out. This is not the first time things like this has happened. The dealer owns 3 shops here and this is the 2nd shop i have taken the bikes back for warranty work and have had issues each time. Check things out if u need to take em in. Dont know if that bolt stuck between the sprocket and engine would have thrown me over the front BUT, that was the first thought I had when I saw it !!! C. Next time you are there you need to give them that bolt and ask for a refund. I know how you feel. When I had the Uly, every time I went to the dealer something went wrong. Brake rotor installed inside out and 180 degrees off, Torn seat, scratched fender, scratched airbox cover, shock preload adjuster fell off in the dealers lot, etc. |
