Quick history - Been driving a motorcycle almost every day for the past 22 or more years. All but one have been sport bikes...Kawasaki(2), Yamaha(4), Suzuki(2). I wear most bikes out rather than trade in with low to moderate milage like I did with the first couple. (1) FZR 1000 with 95,000mi, one FZR 1000 with almost 105,000mi, currently an R1 with 93,000mi. I bought an early build (Aug.08) 1125CR last week. It was delivered last Tuesday. As some of you have seen, I spent the first day, setting the thing up to the basic way I wanted it. Observations after 120 miles - 1. The seat is "wide"...sitting still. 2. Overall seating position is nice, not a lot different than my R1....except for note 1 above! 3. Same with the mirrors. Seems a lot of people have whined about the CR's mirrors. They are plenty adjustable. Actually...slightly better than my 2003, R1's mirrors! BUT...on the road...don't take your hand off the grip...then they vibrate like mad..! 4. The CR is VERY heavy "feeling" pushing it around the driveway, garage. 5. No paint....that's weird! 6. The "heavy" feeling goes away as soon as you let out the clutch. 7. First thing I noticed on the road..."VERY" lean. It surges notably at any steady state speed. It can also be felt at "light" acceleration and even at "light" deceleration. 8. Shifts very nicely...with or without the clutch, up and down. 9. Not bad acceleration for being so lean. 10. Twin vibration not bad. 11. Front brakes are a bit grabby at first hit. I guess that's something I'll have to get used to! 12. Side to side transition is easy, smooth. My old TL1000R was a real pig till I put light weight wheels and other light weight goodies on it. 13. Went up Azusa Cyn Rd. (So. Cal.) at a slightly spirited...but sorta leisurely pace for part of it's break in. I have a regular route for new car and bike engines I do. The pace I was going was a very nice drive, even watching the max. RPM...! 14. The fuel pump runs for a coupla minutes after shutting it off! I've read about this here before! What the hell...did they all come with bad sensors!?!? Not sure about trusting the fuel pump deal. I bought this thing to drive...not sit at the dealer...40+ miles away. Anyone just live with it..? Overall...I'll keep it..! Mike P.s. - While not as fast as my R1...if I can figure out how to give it some fuel...it'd be a lot closer...! I'm pretty sure it's normal for the fuel pump to run 10-20 mins after shut down. I read something about that in my buddy's 1125R manual but it was about a year ago and the info in my head is hazy. On Edit: A couple synapses just fired in my noggin. pump runs 10-20 mins sfter shut down to maintain pressure to avoid possible vapor lock and make for better restarting. SCAB is Southern California Area Buellers and is a informal group that rides every odd month of the year (usually first Sunday but was voted for a Saturday this month) and a meeting in Yorba Linda every even month at Knollwoods. The ride will be in the Rock store area with many twisties thrown in. I have not see not seen the itinerary but we are meeting at the Starbucks in Torrance.
