I know this is about paint and I did post it in paint but thought I might get a better response here. I'm not too happy about dropping my bike the other day but the good thing is it was at only 15mph. I guess there was more sand on the road due to the cold. Well she slid on the left side and scraped up what i think is the stator cover. what color is the engine considered? i just want to touch it up since come bare metal is showing and don't want it to rust. any other ideas or suggestions would be great as well- ill try to post pics later. tried a min ago but kept coming back too big. well i dont think u need to worry about rusting. its not steel. but no one wants scraps that are really visible. my clutch cover has a scrap, but ive been hoping to change to rev. B so painting has been put off. im not sure the color but just wanted to inform about the metal. | ||

The color is called Fusion (Fuzion?) Bronze (the greyish color, right?). I've done a little touching up on the ignition side myself... you can get small touch-up paint bottles from the dealer--- they'll find the part no. for you, too. | ||

thanks froggy. forgot I could have asked u to post them. grinding the down isn't a bad idea. might just clean them up from the major scratches and get that touch up paint. I def need the black ring piece as well as the gasket. | ||

Sorry to hear about your damage, and glad you came out of it okay. Don't forget the pegasus logo for the rubber plug...It's a separate part number. | ||

Better than being irritable and couped up inside all winter I don't think so. trashing my bike would make me way more irritable. My GF knows what to do if I get too cranky. Plus, winter is a great time to get some tattoo work I've been putting off for years done. Especially when your football team sucks! 0-16 doesn't suck, 0-16 is negative perfection. | ||

WTF is that stator puck supposed to even do? That was a 15mph get off and the cover is jacked, ground the fins down far enough to even rub some on the main body, let alone the puck. +1 for not riding in winter, at least not much. If we get a really warm and dry day I'll take it out and go easy, but for the most part the roads are always wet, salty, sandy, frozen or some combination thereof. | ||

It's about $190 for a new cover, gasket & plug. I went down at 130 on the track and ground all the way through the cover. It's not a joy to replace. The stator wires are a PITA to deal with. Took me about an hour to do. | ||

Sorry to hear about all this....especially when San Diego just pulled off a huge upset over the Denver Donkeys and it is 70F outside and I rode my motorcycle into work today. | ||

Dmanchild- the rev. B cover will protect the bike better because behind the puck theres a metal plate and it stickes out further. when my bike went down the puck ground down some but shifted up allowing the cover to grind down. so this new cover would keep the puck in place and keep me from buying a new cover instead of just a puck. Dmanchild - where is ur cover leakin? i notice mine was leakin around the gasket towards the front. so i did some checkin and the bolts were on by 3 ft-lb so i tightend them up to 8ft-lbs. no more leaks. | ||

that's just what I was figuring for the difference between the two covers. I was discussing it with my cuz, froggy, and that was the only thing we were able to come up with. as for the leaking, froggy posted one of the pics of it above (first one), it almost seems like its coming out of the fitting. that's where the trail begins as well as the discoloration. | ||

i did notice the stain(?) but didnt know if it was water. maybe unscrew it and thread seal it again. only problem is u probably have to bleed the clutch. |
