I have to admit, I've done the same curious "test"! In real life she does bark, huh? Over the net tho, sounds like a wet fart! PLEASE tell us you recorded your AFV's and did a pre dyno prior to your swap? |

At least record your AFV's...NOW!!! Check again after a couple hundred miles too! Please? You know the drill for this, yes? If not, ASK or search archives...plenty of info in there! Thanks and have fun! |

The Buell 1125 lists the AFV percentage correction under the diagnostics screen. So if the bike is meeting the pre-determiend configuration it will show 100% AFV. If your setup is lean due to elevation, mods or condition of your motor it may indicate 105% AFV. This indicates its having to add an additional 5% fuel to compensate. So if you check your AFV value before running your new exhaust and then again after running the exhaust for few hundred miles you can see what effect eh exhaust had on fueling in CL to some extent. |

Faslanexb12r, NOT Air/Fuel, Adaptive Fuel Values...to access; Mash (HOLD) both the toggle and mode keys on your dash/turn key on and then you should be in Diag mode, repeat again if it doesn't come up on your screen, you gotta hold them down just right and at the same; Toggle down to F&R AFV's and record...then POST! Got it? We'll go from there...mm |

Xbswede, What is your opinion of an 1125R/CR that posts a 115+% AFV value on either cylinder after an exhaust bolt on and enough learning miles in CL? Thanks! mm (Message edited by slypiranna on December 08, 2008) |

"What is your opinion of an 1125R/CR that posts a 115+% AFV value on either cylinder after an exhaust bolt on and enough learning miles in CL?" The exhaust that was bolted on has some serious low end air flow. This has caused the AFV to add 115% fuel to stay within its parameters while in CL. The bad thing is that if this pipe does not have the same flow characteristics in the mid or top end at WOT the bike will run poorly. This is because the 15% off added fuel will be added to the whole OL region. The other problem is that it may be hard to start, smell of fuel at idle, bog/stall at take offs. IMO only. |

Did a similar "test" when I swapped the pipe on the XB... Gave me a woody, but even more hair on my chest, and the only downside was that I couldn't run it around like that on occasion! R |

I know it would be obnoxious, antisocial, etc, etc, but has anybody thought about doing a collector (or 2 separate pipes) tucked under the motor and out the back? Then drop in something like this
and calling it a day? If you did 2 separate pipes, then you could get the reflection length to mimic the stocker, and in the design phase it would be easy to play with. Shouldn't be any more obnoxious than say a stage 5 screaming parakeet kit from the motor company.... It probably is true that depending on where you live, the LEO's might be more or less sensitive to sporting bikes vs cruisers, bit it would be interesting. Naaaaahhhh, I'll just wait for Kevin... <smile> R |

I did a 2 into 1 straight pipe mod to my XB12R. Also added a self made pipe similar to the ones in the pic. It had a serious hot rod sound and not obnoxious. Using my SOMP dyno I can't say it was faster but I can say is that it lost no performance at all. Mileage increased as well by approx. 15 mpg. |

Carbon - I may be down to try one of these out. Do you by chance known the fitment (ID) of the D&D exhaust? I'm not near my bike to take a measurement. |

No idea, funk. Seems like it'd be a pretty easy mod. Probably more than I would want to live with. R |
