It might be temporary to increase the cost difference from the leftover 2008's, but then again the most expensive part of this bike is foreign made against the weak dollar, but I'm guessing its a marketing attempt to move some 08's. Good luck with that... |

lol, I don't think I have the Zen like patience for an 08 like many here, but I do thank them for their service! Now an 09, is getting much warmer IMHO. I love the engine, and I have grown fond of the Black CR went to see one the other day in person and I love the front end. Scoops still scare me a bit. I was hoping aftermarket would get creative with some options for the radiators. I'm still watching from the stands until spring for financial reasons. |

Don't let the scoops scare you Bob! After a year and 15K miles, they haven't hurt me yet. Merry Christmas everyone! |

Buellborn, Understood, you are on the 09 FENCE, doing concerned positive input and research herein. Good show thus far bro and welcome! And for good reason, can't blame you at all from this side of the ownership fence of an 08 R. My recommendation, if it's not too forward of me to do so (and with the hope that this post IS helpful?!)...forget the CR (but DO test ride one to prove to yourself!) and do the Black 09R. Very cool and proven example! And if your main deal is street, drag or even just road race track days, plan on the CR gear swap. A little less than "10%" will send you to heaven on every ride most only dream about! (((I'd wager YOU are a street rider and/or street racer tho...just got a good feeling about you...as your input thus far on BadWeb has been in total honest understanding and offering...just got a feeling about you...maybe wrong, BUT, I'm questioning and calling you out in good like to understand brother! Give it up! What is your game?))) Now that is the BIKE to own in my opinion! All Black baby and with added grunt on the street and/or track! No BS for being power down to inliners...stock TQ+CR gearing=Whoop, whoop, whoop...yea baby!!! If you can test ride a CR and then looksee at an R...you'll get me/my little post, er drift...best of wishes! If you haven't noticed, I post like I talk...many remain confused...just ask if you don't understand me! I will answer. It's just the excitement and the fact it's the holiday season and I can't ride!!!!!! AND MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!!!!!!! |

What an articulate post MM and thanks Asbjorn. I WILL go ride one, you sold me on that. Thanks for your realistic input, I believe you. And Merry Christmas also to everyone. |

I've finally decided to go for the CR in the next week or two....maybe before the 1st...! Sly - No hard feelings but the R's upper fairing doesn't fit the bike! In my oh so humble opinion, they should have "visually" tied the upper fairing into the radiator scoops. Like I told one of the guys at the Long Beach show...it looks like a guy on the west coast designed the scoops and a guy on the east coast designed the upper fairing...and they didn't talk to each other! Again...just my opinion! That, the better fueling (map, injectors) and pulley ratio. I've got three Buell dealers within about 65 miles...here's to hopen one of them has one.. Mike |

+1 1_Mike! You like a slender example...I prefer a volump one/er, pair!!!!! The same happy feeling and experience resides down LOW between both of them. "V" RIDE IT! MARRY IT!..Er, one of them! |

Still can't figure out what the "adventure" or whatever word you want to use is with the 2008 models. Barely had mine broken in when the fueling reflash came out. sure she ran warm, bucked at certain lower rpms. Kept her wound up a bit and in open air, never stranded me or made me miss my mechanically perfect cityX. Post reflash my good bike became great. Smothed out and cooled off. Then I had to park her for the winter. Can't wait to get my mechanical "adventure" back out this spring. moral of the story is go ride an updated 2008 and see if it's what the magazines tell you it is or not. |

My 08 Has improved after the last reflash.this bike is awesome . I just wish that I had more time to ride now that it's winter. Im glad to see the price go up on the r .These bikes hold great value for a American made bike.I'm proud to own a R/buell. I'm just waiting for the quality proven parts to come out. |

Why wouldn't you Oddball? I'd wager that if you owned or were in a position to purchase an 1125r/cr... You might post different. Please note, that was not a question, just a REAL friendly reminder to what's going on here. Sly-Piranahs...Yea, we do run in packs and do know how to spell. |

Well that explains why the R is faster. |

R is faster? Yea, on a .6 mile after a good prestart go-at-it from an exit turn on the throttle in 3rd or 4th gear!~LOL! How bout a dead mile start race? A true, dead start, drag race thru the measured mile? Warn you, this has already been done but you know me, I'm fair! An 11r would be hurt then from a Cr's gearing standpoint. wanna bet? PLEASE? PRETTY please? I'll be there with bells on if there are any takers on this! |

I give you that SLY. Once you get the CR gearing in the R you will have a superior bike over both std. R and CR for drag racing and canyon carving. |

"As should be the case. " Sly,do they not have enough 08's sitting on the floor? (Message edited by xb984r on December 28, 2008) |

My dealer has not even brought the 09 R out yet because they still have 08's on the floor. Currently they only offer 08 R's and 09 CR's. The 08R is also priced about $1685 above the 09 CR. I personally do not get it. Seems to me they would want to move the 08 R's quicker and start putting the 09 R's on the floor. |

Well Teach, it was mentioned here in a thread a while back that the 08's would go up in value in particular after the first of the year. I'm just repeating this news, I did not write it. |
