http://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/mcy/962273425.h tml ~X~ O.G. Buell '97 ~X~ - $3900 (Marietta, OK) Reply to: see below Date: 2008-12-17, 10:37PM CST 1st year production for the Cyclone M2. 1997 near factory cond. 1203cc motor. 55inch wheelbase, 400lb. dry wt. Bought it for a chopper mutant project. Too nice to tear apart. Need to sell so I can continue to look for a newer Buell(which I have no problem ripping apart). Would consider trade for an 03 or newer XB12R,S,X. Seriously, this bike is too cool to use as a donor, I just don't have the heart to take an original Buell apart. $3,900obo. -Quentin 580-483-3051 Call anytime |

Still it should be re-incarnated not killed. Besides it's not the best motor for a mutant. Too expensive though, it does need a lot of work and there are plenty of insurance jobs out there cheap. A prime example is in the classifieds now. |

That bike is in pretty rough shape for that price. At least it looks that way. |

It actually doesnt look that bad, a good cleaning and a new coat of paint on the exhaust and she would look good again. |

No guys it's a driver! I called and spoke to the seller. The bike is ridden currently and is in great condition except for the exhaust pipe, which in 97 wasn't stainless it was just steel and has a little surface rust on it. The wheels were painted from raw cast, but other than that it's a great bike and the seller wants to give it a good home. He is now looking for a XB platform to do his project with and not a running whole bike, maybe an insurance job if one can be found, so I directed him to our classifieds. Seems like an oportunity for somebody to get a great deal on a classic tuber! |

I take it just for the sentiment he put into to his ad. But i only have 2k and am getting a 06 xb12r with the money. It will be gone before i could get all the money! |

preybird, does the 06 xb12r got a salvage title? Im curious, im just thinking about future projects. You guys also have to understand that i would rather have a 3900 cyclone than a 2k xb12r. My 97 cyclone was about that rough when i bought it, they arnt hard to make look great. (Message edited by Guell on December 27, 2008) |

He's looking for a XB for his project Bird, you may be able to get the cyclone for the XB your looking at. When I spoke to him he was having trouble getting a XB for less than 5K! Salvage or not! If I were you I would call him, and see if you can work something out! |

I got a solid line on the xb for 4k And yes the 2k one had an (insurable) salvage title. I think with my tax refund i will have enough to get the 4k bike so that's what im shooting for, It has minor scuffing from this guys wife supposedly falling over at a stop sign. I have ridden this bike, It has all the carbon parts already. |

Sorry Wikid, not everyone worships the machine like you do. Thank god we live in a democracy which allows us our freedom to do what WE want to and accept criticism from people like you. I absolutely love my Buell and if someone wanted to buy it for a mutant I would not sell it, simple, Thats my freedom. Bird, I was under the impression that he wanted a salvage only bike for his project. He is using a product from Bare Knuckle who has there own frame numbers and a title can be generated from that. |

I would much rather see a xb chopped up for a mutant than a tuber. They are still making the xb and in much larger numbers. |

That is true, but they look kinda funny in a chopper frame IMO. To sifi not enough retro. But in all cases, if the bike is still street-able it should not be sacrificed especialy the S series. Xs are abundant and XBs are as well...my .02 |
