Thanksgiving went well, but the following weekend, not so much. Several old friends in town, old habits came back into the picture. Too much drinking, bar food and late night taco bell runs. Gained 3 pounds, back up to 212. Back on the wagon today. |

I have to say that is REALLY amazing . . . I've been loosing a bit of ground and dread starting anything at the new year. . . I've been trying to get back on my 5 miles a day program and am struggling but you are a major motivator. I've noticed that even being down 15 or so pounds just makes a heck of a difference. Well done! |

I've said it before . . . . but congratulations. You have no idea how well you have done. I've kinda been up, down and all over the place this year. I've notice that loosing, even 10#, makes a huge difference in blood pressure and the way I feel. Younger members here will laugh and call us old. But as a former Big 8 gold medal gymnast can tell you all that stud muffin physique starts slipping away in your 40's. Absent some sort of a plan . . . it's easy to fall into the "one more slice, please" mode. It's really about changing habits and I've got some, can you say cheeseburgers, fries and Hagaan-Daaz, that are having to be pried from me. The good news is that I quit drinking 25+ years ago, quit smoking years ago and am finding myself, perhaps because of all the college kids I'm tossed in with, more motivated. Funny thing is that one of the big motivators to me last year was getting into an old Aerostich and no feeling like I had been poured into a mold. I've been trying to not fall into a first of the year start again but I'm going to use your "chart" and try to follow it during the next year. I see part of the path to success as simply not giving up. Again . . . congratulations and stick with it. You're an inspiration! Court |

Thanks Court! I don't want to say I have given up on losing weight but have become focused on being in shape. More lifting and less treadmill. I got to a certain point and that was it... and that was brutal... treadmill twice a day and not eating squat. So now I will try lifting... muscle burns fat 24/7 and as my first race approaches I will get back on the treadmill for a little cardio. I hope I get to see you at Homecoming and both of will have some improvement to report! Ben is the one that is doing a great job... I'll see you a Nelson sometime this upcoming season skinny boy! |

Down one to 206, 115 pounds lost. Mark, you can bet I'll be out there. Are you coming up to the IMS? If you're gonna be there on Sunday, we'll have to get together. |

As far as dining goes, we discovered an excellent southern style BBQ restaurant north of Medina, about 15 minutes out of route off 71. It's delish. Might have to go there this time. |

Ok...I guess it is that time for me too. New Years resolutions are never something I've been any good at sticking to, but here goes... I am not ready to give up my real weight just yet, but what I will say is that I feel it should be considerably less. The person I am today is looking a good 15kg(33lb)heavier than the somewhat sexier thang that pounced into Lemonchili's life a few years back. Weight bred of contentment and letting other things just 'get in the way'. I am not 'fat' but I feel overweight and have noticed a definite decline in energy to do the better things in life. I won't have it any more, so my resolve is set. I am changing my career this year, taking on study and a part-time job over the mundane 9-5 Mon-Fri I was at, so hopefully it will help a bit too. I have decided not to post my current weight, but my progress as I go. So...today it starts at zero

i can change the thread back to the way it was, i.e. bumped to the top of the Quick Board with every new post, but don't think i can (and not sure we want to) archive the 2008 posts into a separate thread. do we want to start a brand-new 2009-specific thread? ----------------------------------- every Holiday season, egg nog (laced with liberal Southern Comfort) blimps me out anew. so, let's try this again: 1/2/2009 - 192.2 FB |

I was just thinking archive 2008 at the top of this thread..... so there isn't as much to scroll thru. to get current posts..... So you could still click on it to take a look at last year. I'm easy... and cheap... so whatever works is cool with me!! But then again... I may be the first one to say.... "What ya do that for?" LOL |

do we want to start a brand-new 2009-specific thread? No. I don't wanna start over, and I don't want to throw out what I've already done. Some of us have been on this for a long time, and will still be here Feb 1 2009. Let's not start over for people that won't be here in a month or 2. |

I hate that BMI chart!! But... it would be great to get to 174 lbs.... thats my "NORMAL" weight... 174 would be good for some faster lap times... |

the chart seems unrealistic to me in several aspects, but i think it's a decent tool for providing an additional data point for help in monitoring one's progress. lap times? for me, that's how long it takes to get from my office to the refrigerator and back...
