Reactive: Yes, 99.99% of all year Blast parts are the same.2000 and 2001 are the most different. Any year parts book will do (if you get it cheap). Some parts like the above cover will go cheap on ebay. I also have some spares (like above) that you may be looking for (unless you just want new, and thats okay). | ||

Thanks guys! I don't necessarily need new, as long as it doesn't look like its been through hell and back, it'll work nicely. The bike I bought has been laid down once on the left side and the damage is minimal, but there are a few parts I'd like to replace. The belt cover is missing for I don't know what reason, but I want to replace that too. I need a foot peg for the left side, and the silver "Y" shaped pice that holds both of the foot pegs to the frame is sort of bent. I'm either going to try to straighten that or buy a new one if I can find one cheap enough. I really appreciate the links and information you guys provide. Hopefully I can get to the point where I can pay it forward to new members! | ||

All those parts show up more often on eBay than you would think. Seems like couple times a month there is a complete bike being parted out. | ||

Beware of used Y-frames. Most are bent and its very difficult (impossible) to tell if they are straight, off the bike. They can be had very cheap though. I have several sets of Y-frames and the only way I can tell if the really good ones are bent is to actually bolt them up to a bike. PM me if I dont get back to you by late next week on parts I have. | ||

if the brackets are bent you may be able to bend them back. I left mine on the bike and pulled them outward with a come-a-long to get them pointing in what seemed to be more the right direction, which helped to cure the peg droop. it took several tries - the brackets are springy, so had to pull past "straight" to where they pointed outward, then they settled back to straight when the tension was (slowly!) released. | ||

How did you keep the whole bike from moving while you tightened the come-along? I was thinking of just using my hands to pull and use my feet on the engine for leverage. Or maybe a large pry bar on a sturdy part of the frame or motor mount. I'm also looking for the chrome ring that holds the sealed beam headlight in. I have a few scratches on mine. It would really be cool to find a replacement bracket that mounts the headlight and windscreen to the forks on the left side. I'm looking for a bunch of obscure parts, which is why I thought I wouldn't have any luck finding any 2nd hand. Again, I really appreciate all the help and advice! | ||

To straighten the Y frames, I laid the bike down on its side(because I didn't want ot pull it over!) and used a long tire iron used for truck tires. I pivioted the bar where the Y frame is bolted to the main frame and chained the foot peg area to the pry bar and lifted it up. It worked OK | ||

Part # Y0400.TA is the new headlight assembly listed for Blasts. I dont have a part number for just the bulb/headlight, but I suspect given that the new assembly is $100 more than the old assembly, it may now use a replaceable H4 bulb. I dont have a new parts catalogue to verify this, so its just speculation on my part. | ||

Can someone tell me which rear sets are the best and what is a reasonable price to pay? The only ones I've found so far have been Bankes and they want you to call for a price...that makes me think expensive. | ||

Check out the Blast accessories at American SportBike...they have rearsets and handlebars in stock...I guess they are Crossroads brand, it does not say...but they are very nice pieces indeed...looks like there is enough call for them to have a production run done... | ||

The Crossroads/American Sport Bike are about the nicest looking rearsets you'll ever find. $499 http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/201 64/15647.html?1234551786 They are pretty much where you'd want them for racing. The Bankes are not as nice looking (my opinion), but work just as well. They have the advantage of the pegs being drilled for high or low location, depending on preference. They used to be $499, but since they are now a one off item yes, it'll probably cost more. Cheapest is to make your own, followed by modifying some elses (a few suggestions are listed in the rearsets thread). | ||

Flyscreen replacement help I just purchased a flyscreen for my Blast. It is a 2002. The problem is, is I have no bolts or fasteners for this screen. What size bolts, nuts, grommets, whatever I might need should I be looking for? Thanks! | ||

I've got the screws, washers and well nuts. It was no trouble, was working on my bike tonight and found them right away. I don't need them, PM me your address and I'll drop them in the mail to you. They are tiny, won't take but a stamp or two. |
