If you ride a Buell and need a heated seat you may want to have a physical done to see why you are a numb-butt! I'm sorry....I couldn't help myself. |

I take off my sec-ops heat shield. That warms it right up! Put it back on in the summer. |

I ride all year here in East Tennessee. We have had some serious cold for this region this year so far. I have a B.A.Windshield, heated grips, heated jacket liner and winter riding gear. I never have had my butt get cold on a Buell. Hands, feet, knees, face, but never the butt. |

Corbin, has a line of seats that are heated, I don't think they are Buell specific but they will custom make. |

My K1200LT has a heated seat. I'll wear my full Aerostich with layers on the Buell, but on the LT just a heavy jacket and chaps suffice. That way my butt gets more heat into my bloodstream. |

I just tape up the gap under the seat when it gets cold....keeps my brain nice and warm...otherwise the dangers of brain freeze can lead to (Message edited by sekalilgai on December 18, 2008) |

KEN!!!??? What the....???!! You seem to be making a habit of that! Do you need a bike with chrome so that you have a shiny side to keep up? Maybe an anti-gravity ray gun? Hope all is OK! |

ya maybe.....we were out taking pictures of historical markers and my mind was on 'where do I place the bike for a nice pic' more than ...gee that ground is really soft when you get too far off the gravel road.... chrome with huge crash bars.... bike (or dumba** owner) not hurt luckily...everything soft and squishy ... see the footprints. That was also my first Uly ride after knee surgery...talk about stupid. Sorry that was OT... I've never had butt go cold on the Uly but maybe the heated jacket is why! BTW Preybird... we have used flexible (encased in silicone) heaters for some stuff at work and they put out some heat. Check out p/n 7945T45 at http://www.mcmaster.com/ I think you can get it for 50W for the 2*5 inch piece. That is a good bit of heat (about twice the heated grips and 2/3 of a vest) into a fairly small patch. A heat controller would probably be smart. Alternatively you could get the 24V version which would be only about 25W when hooked up to 12V. I think it costs about $22. Actually for that cost, I'd skip the external controller, buy 2 and wire them as either series or parallel with a switch. That way you can get either 25w or 50w in a 4*5 inch area. Just an idea I'm gonna try. I have one of those heated seat pads for hunting. If it is manageable to sit on I will try it. No plugs, no wires, no gels, it uses some kind of styrofoam that generates heat as it is squeezed. |

Froggy, are you using 20w50 in this cold? You should seriously consider a 5w40. |
