Steve, Those were some pretty cool pic's, looked like a great day of riding. I am thinking about purchasing an XB9 (not sure between S or R) and I noticed that you were riding with a Ducati's that day. One of my friends rides a Monster 750 and I'm really interested in how your group viewed the Firebolt compared to the Ducatis. Also, how far did you ride that day? I can't imagine that I could read more about motorjournalists that hated the ergos of the Firebolt. Now that you've put some miles on the bike, what do you think of them? BTW - I own an '83 Honda CX650 Custom, ridden it for about 26k miles over the last 5 year, so I expect that any contemporary bike design will be a new and rewarding experience. - Doug | ||

Doug, On one of our trips Paul from OZ wanted to try the Firebolt so we traded. The Monster reminded me of my old KZ550. It was lite and loose. It was easy to ride and would be great for wipping in and out of traffic. The Firebolt handled much better, it went where you wanted it to. I can understand why some people have problems with the way the 'bolt handles. It is so much out of the norm. Once you get used to it, it feels right. SteveP | ||
