My favorite "Roscoe" is my High Standard 44 Auto mag.If I don't feel like talking to you, it will tell you that for me! I used to shoot it in competition quite a bit but now it's very expensive to get parts for........but they are are available. So it just resides in the safe. My dearest long guns are the first ones. 1895 Quackenbush 22 that is still accurate,Dads hand me down model 34 Remington 22 and Christmas 1967, Remington 581 22. What amazes me is the cost of guns nowadays. All the competition guns I bought years ago for around $300.00 are now going for a grand or more.I've competed in nearly every type of rim fire and center fire rifle/pistol competition as well as muzzle loading events. What a ride! The only thing I never really got into deep was shotgun stuff. All I have is a couple of hand me down "two rows".They worked, but just not as handy as pump guns. Practical pistol was fun, but it just didn't make sense to shoot hundreds of rounds a week for practice.....and then travel to a match, shoot a coupe of clips full in a couple of minutes and be done for the day. My latest gun is pneumatic.....Airforce Condor...1450 FPS, 16 grain,177 pellet.............ZOTS! |

I have the low adapter on my 500. Then added a 6 pos M4 stock. I got lucky though, found the adapter at a gun show. Seller had no idea of what he had. Picked it up for less than half cost of new. The holo type sight was a real eye opener for a buddy of mine.. |

Court... The pistol in the pic I posted earlier is a Kimber Custom II (Their "cheap" model ). You can not go wrong with a Kimber as long as you understand and respect their short comings. Those are that the magazine is fairly light and sometimes won't fall out when you hit the slide release. No problem as it has a lip at the front that you catch with your left pinky to clear it. They are SAO or Single Action Only. That means you can't fire it before manually cocking it. That's alright too IMO. You can not limp wrist a 1911 of any variety. They'll fail to feed. That said... I was out shooting at 150 yards and hitting about 3/5 rounds with store bought ammo. I can hit a tin can at ~40 yards 10/10. The trigger is "perfect". You simply will not find a better trigger on a semi auto handgun for anywhere near the price. That helps quite a lot with accuracy. If you like handguns you need a Kimber. They are excellent. |

"You can not limp wrist a 1911 of any variety" Sure you can. Get the lightest spring from Brownells and load up 185 gr cast semi wad cutters with 3.5 grains of Bullseye. Makes it and easy "introduction" gun to women or youngsters. With full power ball ammo, then yes, a firm grip!..... |

+1 Kimber Over the last 10 years I've put about 10000+ rounds downrange with my old trusty Glock 19 (RIP). At 25 yards I was lucky if my group was all in 12". First try with my buddy's Kimber 1911, at 25 yards I was shooting in a 5" group. I trusted the Glock with my life, and it never failed me, but I could never get used to the safe/action trigger. As M1Combat said the trigger is perfect, or near as it can be. |

OK, they are starting to attack the second amendment rights a lil early for my good conscience. Groups are now urging kids to turn in toy guns for prizes, gift certificates and 'for a safer home environment' WTF Toy guns dont kill people.... |

"It looks like my Dept. will be getting rid of our trusty 870s and going to a .223 rifle. I t is going to be a loooong proccess but it looks like it is happening. " Is this a Flynn mandated directive, or is the change mandated from elsewhere? (Message edited by mikej on December 15, 2008) |

I think the movement started under Chief Hegerty. I think Chief Flynn approves of it though. It is sometimes hard to get full info. being on the botom of the food chain. I've heard through the grape vine that not all the Districts will get them right away and I have heard members of the shooting range talking about the 870s being traded in and sold through a gun shop. |
