Jerry, I am a Craftsman fan. The Chinese tools just break at the worst possible moment. NAPA's tools (not their cheap import line) is good stuff, made in America, lifetime guarantee (no receipt necessary, honored at any NAPA store nationwide). in a past life i managed several NAPA stores, and their American tools are very good. (P.S. Jerry - that means you and JB2 should expect some straight downtube H-D single stuff in the near future, so be warned!) got it, and many, many thx! FB |

Kristi, any chance you have any moredecals? Got me a new lid. Two would be better. If so, send me a pm. tks! Any Yes fans here? Pat and I saw them live at Carolina Theater Friday night, just minutes away from our house. The place can only seat 1100 people, needless to say it sold out quick. Best bang for the buck we've had in quite a while. It was one helluva show. |

Had the Toys for Tots today here in Wilmington, there were a number of young sport bike riders that participated. At one point I was in the 1/2st half of the procession the bikes stretched in front and behind me as far as I could see down the road, waiting for "stands" up with likely 1000 or so Vtwin engines just never gets old I am now ready for Christmas Sorry I will have to miss the dinner invite Kristi, I have been slacking this weekend and have to get my chores done My butler is worthless, Oh thats right I'm single ( its me) |

went to the winter shootout at Twin performance tuners saturday and one in the buell class. Put down 90.89 hp, and 78.61 torque. Yay for me!!! TPT has a very nice shop and set up. I hope for the best of their new company, I plan on returning for some tuning. |

Saw this on a police vehicle this morning in raleigh. Anyone else seen this. It looked to have camera lens on them. Drivers side pointed backwards and the passengers side pointed forward. WTF is it?

Yes, every one. There was a thread on this on ADV when someone was wondering how come they got pulled so quickly when driving on expired plates. It gets even hi techier. All the malls use face recognition technology now. When you walk in, the security system compares your picture to a list of people who aren't supposed to be at the mall. If you're on the list, they dispatch security to escort you back out (kids get kicked out frequently.) I think it's kind of creepy that a computer is watching me in the mall, and it can recognize me. |

I dare you to steal one of the cameras off the car. I hate to coin a Courtism, but remind me to tell you sometime about stealing things off of law enforcement vehicles... OK, it was only a campus security car... But still... 1313 |

They are everywhere in NYC and are beginning to appear at the entrances to all bridges and tunnels. The do, in fact, run license plates in real time. NYC is also using, at the tunnels and bridges, face recognition technology. Technology has gotten almost scary cool . . . how do you like the new Nikon with face recognition that waits to snap the photo until everyone in the frame is smiling. I was at a Nikon conference recently and they showed an example of how the "brain" finds the edges of the mouth, draws a line and waits for it to be "interrupted" by the edges being higher than the center (a smile) and SNAP. It is not possible, if you don't believe it you're in the dark ages, to tell about where anybody is at anytime. I was thinking yesterday, as I slipped the American Express card in the NYC parking meter every hour to get the ticket to put in the window of my E-Z Pass equipped car . . .how simple it is to track every person and every vehicle. Don't think for a moment . . . at least if you are in NYC . . . that your cellphone and e-mail are not being randomly checked as well. Keep a close eye on the white balloons over the city. Funny thing is that unmarked works well for a police car, not so well for a 200' long balloon . . . they could have at least painted GOODYEAR on the side. I had a friend steal a cop's pistol in Topeka when I was in junior high . . . that was ugly.

that was ugly. I have a friend, who is a story teller on par with yourself. He tells a story of hanging out with a friend, and the friend deciding that it would be cool to use his BB gun to shoot the light off of an occupied police car. The story ends with him hiding in a dumpster behind a fish market (yuck) listening to the police car crunch the gravel as it dove past, looking for them. |

I TP'ed the inside of a cop car while the cops had my friends lined up outside. I saw them coming and hid in a tree. The cop parked right beside the tree I was in. They were called because we were TP'ing two houses, that for some strange reason the owners of the homes started as a joke. We kids just jumped in. Another neighbor not knowing what was going on called the cops but when they arrived they were stunned none of us ran. We figured since the owners consented it was not illegal. As my friends were lined up on the other side of the car, I dropped down out of the tree. Got in the car on the other side and TP'ed the steering wheel. I got back out and got in line without the police noticing. They were quite shocked we got them but they took it in the fun intended. |

Sportymark, this is for you.
quote:The WRX of motorcycles, hmmm. It'd have to be kind of ugly, pretty fast, outdated and hard on rear wheel bearings. I'm sure someone can come up with a bike that fits that description.

I've been playing with the dyno run files from the dyno shootout at TPT the other day. My bike vs Seeinstars' vs a stock '04 XB12R: My bike vs an R6 over rpm: Same as above, graphed over time (more relevant): My bike and the R6 against a new Hayabusa:

These next two are interesting- an '05 R6 vs an '07 R6. As expected, the '07 revs higher and makes a little more power up top, but it costs it a little bit of power through the rest of the rev range: This is the one that really caught my attention. I graphed them over time and included speed. It turns out the '05 is actually faster in a roll-on, all the way to redline:
