I've owned my buell saddle bags for about 15000 miles now. I use them on a weekly basis. I hardly used the expandable zippers though. Anyway one day while demonstrating the incredible storage capacity to my wife... I can't close the expandable zippers again. Has anyone had this problem? Did you have any success in fixing it? I tried some dielectric grease, with no luck. |

Never had that problem, but I haven't had mine as long. Maybe a seamstress? I had a zipper on a jacket do that. I messed with it for a month, then somebody told me to take it to a seamstress. Long and short a day and $5.00 later she fixed it. Don't know what she did, but it worked. |

At worst, they could rip out the old zipper ane sew a new one in. Shouldn't be too big of a deal, just find a seamstress / tailor with a heavy duty sewing machine. |

Fixing zippers is pretty easy. The problem is almost always with the "pull." Over time it can wear or get out of adjustment. Google "zipper repair" for lots of "how-tos on adjusting." You'll also find the "ZRK Enterprises" zipper repair kit. I picked a kit up from my local fabric store (e.g. Hancock Fabrics, Joann Fabrics, etc.) for just a few dollars. It came with an easy to understand primer on what goes wrong with zippers and how to adjust them. It also contains an assortment of zipper pulls and clear instructions on replacing your old pull, if necessary. I fixed the zipper on my leather jacket easily. All you need is the kit and a pair of pliers. No problem, no need to replace the entire zipper. It is also correct that some bee's wax -- or candle wax -- can lubricate and fix a zipper that is simply sticky. |
