it will never happen. Sorry, but if Harley buys Ducati it will dilute the harley brand and those loyal HD owners will cry foul. Frankly I think it would be cool as.. but it will not happen. BradG |

If this were to happen, I'm sure it would be a good deal for Ducati but I'm not so sure about Harley. Ducati would get some much needed capital. Harley would own a chunk of the most "popular" sportbike company in the world. "Popular" doesn't create revenue though and that's got to be the hook. Ducati would have to become very profitable. I guess it would work if Harley would keep the ownership/investment as low key as possible so as to not upset the "natural order" of things. If Harley got too involved in Ducatis development, we could buy Orange and Black Ducati 999's equipped with Seat Conchos. Cool rumor...but in my opinion...not gonna happen. |

If Harley buy out Ducati, you can expect commemorative MotorClothes jackets with spaghetti tassles. Or a 996 engined Buell? |

Actually, you need not worry. There have been Buell/Ducati dealers since Day 1. The first was in Wyoming. I think Buells would, and I'm sure Dave would agree, see better next to a Ducati than a Harlet-Davidson. I'd much prefer to be trying to "move" someone from a Monster to a Buell that an FLSTF to a Buell. In fact, having Buells and Ducati's within sight of each other, to me (having sold more than my fair share of Monsters and Seca 600 to folks who a Buell is just not right for) would make selling the Ducati and the Buell an easier mission. They are, to the savvy saleman, complimentary goods and either can be used as a "lever" to showcase the others attributes. My bet is that this is no secret to Iowanianionians. Court |

I'm going this morning to look at another building! Still working on getting the Mother Companies blessing. I don't know why they have to be so hard headed, just let me have my way! It's not like I'm using their $$$. If it works(and I know it will) great. If it doesn't, what are they out? They have noooo idea how stubborn I can be when I'm on a mission. Ride to the Edge! I have quite a few Buell/HD riders that I've helped see the light, so to speak. To be truly sucessfull we need to be able to capture the younger market that don't normally come into the HD world for a variety of reasons. I have a perfect example, a young guy comes into the shop,in the rain on his R6 to buy a rainsuit. I track him down in the store after seeing his bike in the parking lot. He tells me after we've talked sportbikes, riding, track days and stuff that he's been past our dealership about a dozen times this summer but never stopped in. He didn't think we'd have anything for him and that he might not be welcome on his bike(not being a HD and all) I invited him to join in on our rides and to come out to our next event, the Fall Fest. He comes in 2 days later and orders a Zero Gravity windscreen for his R6. Said he tried to get one at the Yamaha dealer and they just didn't seem interested in him. So he comes out to the Fall Fest and just by chance I was letting some of the guys ride the new Lightning. I asked him if he wanted to ride it. He comes back and tells me he liked it but it was too upright for him, we roll out the Firebolt with the race kit on it and send him off again. Comes back with the big, Buell grin that we all know. 2 days later he trades his 02 R6 for a new Firebolt! So much for not having anything for him or not feeling welcome! Ride to the edge!
