Hey guys, did you here that Dr greg tore his bike down to the crank 14 times trying to find an oil leak that was only a line failure ? He must be really pissed-off I know I would be. |

I believe a launched spark plug from a stripped cylinder head was the initial reason for the surgery, not an oil leak. |

Doc did a great documentary on his plug, oil leak, oil line work. I admire a person that will dive in and try to fix his own problems. Good job Doc. (Message edited by OurDee on December 05, 2008) |

This thread should be removed, or sent to the backfire board. it's only purpose is to torture someone who already has had a bad month. There WAS NOT 14 tear downs. There was a stripped out sparkplug thread, that started the whole rebuild, which then exposed the leaking oil lines. Once again, this thread is worthless, and only shows that the creator of this thread has no class, and should be removed... |

Yeah, I agree that this post should be removed. No purpose other than to taunt Dr. Greg who is adding great info to this group. Who are the admins? |

Holy smokes ! I thought I was poking some good natured fun at the people who weren't able to follow the thread and thought Doc did a bunch of work for no reason. I mean come on now, down to the crank !!! 14 times!!! (obvious joke, no ?)!!! As to all you imbeciles that think I am slamming the good Doctor...EPHU...stupid ! If you were following Docs original thread you would've realized that I not only complimented the Doc on his shop but offered sound advise two seperate times on the repair. Hey Dr Greg, you can sleep well tonight knowing that you have a very loyal bunch of friends here that are willing to stick up for you. So what if their grasp of the obvious is weak at best. Jlpskydive, congratulations ! You seem to be the only one who understood this thread. As for the four of you who were too dim to, you're supposed to be living a blissfull life how can you be so mean to me ? (Message edited by skinstains on December 05, 2008) |

"...too dim".."imbeciles" ??? Oh wait - you're 'joking' again, I get it! ... and 'round and 'round it goes. Appears your mission was just to stir... so you stirred things up, mission accomplished - very funny...HA-HA-HA! I get the underlying message here ...you're f*cking brilliant man, really! . |

I gotta say, Skinstains, I got the joke immediately. Maybe that's because I followed Dr. Greg's threads from start to finish, anxiously awaiting his next step. Very enjoyable, and enlightening, much better than anything on TV. |

Aha, just discovered this thread! I've already received a PM from skin; didn't know what he was talking about at the time. Bartimus got it right; thanks my man. I'm not frustrated at all; I learned a lot, got to take lots of neat pictures, and maybe passed on a tip or two. Now for my big ride on Saturday! |

New book "Valium and the Art of Uly Maintenance". Of course I could name the books after Ducati, BMW, Aprilia, Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha. I am a terrible wrench. I have found over the years, cheaper, faster and better to take it to the shop. |

I'm slow. Took me over 60 minutes to get Mr. Skin's drift. So, I had to edit instead of deleting my post. I followed the other most informative thread from start to now. Sometimes with extremely large value twos; 2+2=5. |

Hey, my oldest son (of four) remarked on how laid-back I was about the whole situation. I would encourage all the inmates (er, excuse the ADV notation) to be equally laid-back. Wrenching has its own rewards. I--being a mechanical engineer---and teaching courses about things very much like the Uly engine, actually love getting inside things... ...holding a piston in one's hand...feeling the polished surface of a wrist pin...deciding which four-letter word to use when the wrist pin clip goes BOING!...those are (really) the memories you carry when you're riding along some beautiful mountain road. You have actually SEEN the inside of your engine; you know the surfaces upon which combustion takes place; upon which a thin film of oil regulates between control and disaster (not so much H-D engines with their higher-pair (ball/roller) bearings, but...), and the general functioning of it all. I live for that kind of stuff. Don't we all? |

Right on. Even a CivE can appreciate how mechanical stuff works - just as long as I don't have to go through Thermo again. |
