Purchased the kit with the bike. Nice warm day, figured I would give the uprights a try. 3 days latter; the warm weather gone, I am pissed because I haven’t rode for days and I am looking at a pile of parts in the driveway. Throttle cable routing caused a lot of heavy drinking. The clutch line didn’t want to route the same way the last one did. Don’t even ask where all brake fluid is. Just trust me, you wouldn’t want to know. Seriously, the handlebar kit is not an easy swap out. I can never see myself saying “I think I will swap the handlebars out for my ride today” It would be more like “Dam it, house arrest again. Guess I have time to swap the handlebars “ |

Damn. That sucks! I grew up on a farm, doing my own wrenching on everything and I kinda figured that it would be a piece of cake... Took off the airbox cover, then upper and lower airbox, thought about it for a while, then said to myself "Self, you'r gonna F*** this up royally if you go any further." Cost me about 2 hrs or less labor # dealer. Since my bike is primary transportation for me, I played it safe. On the bright side, you will be seriously bonded with the machine when you get through!! Good luck! |

Yup I agree my kit is ordered and waiting on it to come in.. I will have the Dealer install it. I talked to one of the mechanics and they agreed let them do it because it can be tricky.. |

I can’t blame anyone for sending the bike in for the handlebar change. Wished I would of did it. Still not on the road yet. Wrenching just doesn’t give the same feeling as pegging the throttle. They should put a sign on the mirror “ OBJECTS IN THE MIRROW ARE SLOWER THAN YOU ARE” 2 hours labor, right…. Next time it won’t take this long but next time it will all get torn down for Track Preps. It's always the small crap that get you. Like dropping the brake cylinder screw into a parallel universe. Or wondering why, after buying no fewer than 4 tubes of grip glue last year, I can't find a single one. Tomorrow, yes tomorrow, I will ride! (With or without a left grip)

I have always used the wife's hairspray instead of grip glue - no issues in 15 years or so. |

Hairspray...who knew? That is a good standby. Got the kit on and took it for a ride. Mixed emotions. I don't think the throttle cables are set up right. They seem alot stiffer and the bike has a different feel. Definently a good sport touring option. Sits you right up, right up in the wind! Looking for fairing solutions. I will give the upright bars some time to get tune in before I change them out in March!

Too bad they're not the faster black variety, or I'd fly out there and ride one home! Seriously, thanks Jammer...definitely making me think, and making me wonder about my dealership. |

The RED ones are faster... The black ones handle better. It's a fact. Really. Rob |

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/389129.html Lighter throttle, and it doesn't stifle WOT 3rd gear @5k rpm, and no killing motor from blipping throttle @ idle. Good mod. R |

Spraycan paint is excellent for 'Grip Glue' too. |

Ok, things are getting easyer now. Each time I get into the air box it is quicker. I have lost one of then body panel screws ($7 at the dealer) Man there has got to be a better way. Got the solenoid mode done...Yeowww! What a change. What else can I wire out the way? The handle bar kit is great, but for my style, I will stay with the clubman bars. |

Clubmans for me as well, but I'm real interested in sitting on one with the bars installed. Sorry to hear you had complications - I woudlnt' think it would be that hard, but cable changes can do that. |
