I bought my first Rotax-powered v-twin motorcycle today. I picked up an '07 Aprilia RSV1000R with less than 500 miles and 7 months of factory warranty left, for $9,700 out the door. It really is a good time to pick up deals. For now, the XB12R will remain prepped for track days. |

I thought Aprilia changed to an in-house engine several years ago? |

I'm not sure... but I think the new engines go in the new models. The ones that had Rotax engines still have them (like the RSV1000R). I could be wrong though... |

Nice bike. Get the latest issue of the Brit bike mag Performance Bikes as they have a good feature on these bikes. The RSV were some of the last Aprilia's w/the Rotax built engine as the new parent company has brought engine design/development in-house. |

Nice motorcycle. My friend Gerry has one, I have ridden it a couple of times. However, if I were going to spend $9.7k on a Rotax powered twin, I think I might take a look at a 2008 1125cc Vee Twin manufactured by a little company in East Troy, WI. Buell or something like that. Bike is has newer generation Rotax, is lighter, shorter, better handling and faster. It's a first year model with a few teething problems, but you could get those covered under the two year warranty. Just sayin'
PS: Probably cost you a couple of grand less as well. |

To be quite honest, Gentleman_jon, unless they did a complete redesign of the 1125 series, I would not keep one if it was free. If they put the Helicon into an XB12R, I'd gladly pay $12,999 for it. Unfortunately, they totally screwed the pooch on the 1125 design (in my opinion). No amount of discount can offset ugliness. |

From the saddle the 1125 is a thing of beauty. Especially when you've got your thousand-yard stare working and all you can taste is adrenaline. The Mille is great fun as well, though I'd sure hate to crash it and then have to buy parts. I'll take one of each, please.... |

There is a certain amount of forward thrust that can, on occasion, mitigate a cosmetic anomaly. All you have to say is either "Holy $hit!" or "Wheeeeee!!!!" a couple of times, and it ceases to be an issue. R |

Beautiful Bike and I 110% agree on the 1125's hideiousness If I wanted pure speed and didn't care about how my bike looks I'd have bought a soulless GSXR or an R1. |
