Hi Everyone, I had a low side at Texas World Speedway a couple months back (at around 40mph). This left the clutch side of my '08 1125R quite scratched up. I was devastated. But, I did the repairs myself (great therapy) and they're documented at: http://web.mac.com/tzourntos/iWeb/Site/1125R_repai rs.html Hopefully, some of you will find these fixes useful to see. I'm no tech, just an engineer, so take these for what they're worth (my therapy). I credit the Dark Horse Moto sliders (front and rear) for saving my bike from what could have been a lot of damage, particularly to the swing arm. The low side took out a rear turn signal (which was burned out anyway), and I was happy to replace the rear signals with an integrated turn/brake light from XBLights (which I'm really happy with). Here are some of the images. Damage: New outer clutch cover with spherical nut, piston, O-ring & linings: Rev. B Clutch Cover installed (looks '09-ish): I also installed 3M protective film (14mil) on my side pods (in case of a stationary mishap): Handlebar repairs (new clip-on, grip and lever, with Dark Horse Moto Delrin slider): And I ditched the stock rear turn signals for the awesome XBLights integrated brake/signal light: And, as you can see, I've also used the fantastic Evotech tail tidy kit from Adrenalin Moto (UK). Finished, rear looks nice & clean: Cheers, Takis (Message edited by pariah on November 29, 2008) |

Yeah, it's the Buell bra, right from the dealership... fits XBs and 1125Rs... (Message edited by pariah on November 29, 2008) |

Zack, it's funny how all the banged up clutch covers look exactly the same! Have fun replacing yours, and let me know if you need any part numbers or anything, but I suspect that you are well prepared. Robert: yeah, the Mac has an application that takes your photos and automatically generates a web page for you. All you do is enter the captions and pick the style! There must be something similar for PCs, I would think... Carbon: thanks, I can't tell you how happy I am now that my 'R is back... well, you understand |
