If you know exactly what you want, why not just call around and see who will give you the best deal?

I paid $7600 for my '07 12Ss this past July. It was 1500 under invoice...so if prices have stayed the same, I'd say the invoice is going to be right around $9100.

Do you think that you should have to pay for freight, I don't. You are buying the bike at the dealership, how it got there is not your problem.

If you think you are NOT paying for freight you're mistaken.

You pay it when you buy milk, you pay it when you buy a car, you pay it when you buy a shirt.

In that case, if I were a dealer, I'd simply slap it on the price and add "freight included".

The dealer gets billed for and pays the freight.

If they give you a gnote off another color buy it and then replace the 3 or 4 pieces of platic if the dealer is that dumb but I doubt it

Pete_nice, your bike will cost $9995 plus freight and setup. The freight is $270, and the setup varies depending on which dealership you buy from.

How much should you shoot for? Well, how much do you want the bike. Instead of searching for the "best deal" for all time, find yourself a good dealership that will treat you well, and then work out your deal. You will probably feel better about it then.

There isn't a whole lot of markup on these bikes, and the dealership and it's personal are entitled to make a profit. Without a profit margin, you will not see Buells in any dealerships because the fairly low volume will not make up for the low margin.

Enjoy your new bike.

thanks Eboos but i just want a fair deal and paying almost $12,000 for a bike that problably cost the dealer 9100 and with kick backs and other things even less , thats just not right and we both know that most sales people will try and get as much money as they can from a buyer if u let them and sure making a profit is ok but not a rape of a profit

That's why MSRP is there. Who cares what the dealer paid for it, that doesn't matter. The manufacturer sets the suggested pricing to protect both the customer and the dealer. This isn't the car business, and there aren't rebates that the dealership is hiding from you. The bike business is much more straight forward.

I am paid on flat rate for selling a bike. I don't get more or less regardless of the profit on the unit. Of course the dealership will want to hold as much profit as possible, but price gouging will only hurt them in the long run.

Pete, I bet you could find a new 07 that has been sitting on a dealer floor for a few seasons. That is what I did with my 06 Ss. I got it for $6500.

So if you can put up with the few part color differences that might be your best bet to get a good deal.

I guess you don't get it. The bike you are buying will not even be able to keep the lights on for the month. How many do you think they sell per year? As I said before, find yourself a good dealership, somewhere you will want to come back to again and again. Focus on customer service first, worry about the price then.

I agree with Eboos...what the dealer paid for a bike means nothing---you do not get to decide how much profit he makes! And like has already been posted, you pay for freight on EVERYTHING you buy..whether it's food, clothing, whatever. So what you have to decide is how much are you willing to pay for the bike you want. Finding out what others paid is certainly good for giving you an idea of the market, but in hte end, you will have to work out your deal with your dealer. I would ask guys where they got their bikes..how's the after the sale service? What are the hourly rates for service? Do they keep a good inventory or is everything ordered when needed/wanted?? If you drive 2 or 3 states away to save a few hundred dollars...don't expect to get the same level of service/satisfaction as the guy that is a loyal customer that does all his business with said dealership.. They are going to take care of their loyal customer base first!!! And you can't blame them for that. So, in the end you'll have to sit down and negotiate YOUR price for your bike. Establishing a good relationship with whatever dealership you decide on is going to, in the long run, pay much larger dividends than the few hundred dollars you might save on initial purchase. This is a lesson I have had to learn the hard way..
whatevr happens, I know you're gonna love it...Hey !! It's a BUELL !!!

I think the part that gets to many is that the freight/prep for that snickers is not a broken out charge at the checkout. It's already rolled into the price. If the claim that it is not already factored in is true then they need to adjust msrp.

I haven't had freight/prep as an add-on for any bike I've purchased. When asked about price, if the salesman starts with msrp+freight+prep+(sometimes paperwork fees rivaling the freight/prep charges) I say ok thanks and walk right out the door. It looks more like extra padding thrown on so when someone wants to "negotiate" they can be generous and give that back and make full msrp.

Never cared for the offer/counter offer way of buying so I just hear what prices dealers want. If I like one I'll buy. If not, wait until I see one offering a number I'll accept.

To the op,
Price around, use msrp as a guide point and see where they all stand in relation to it. Make your decision from there.

When you buy a snickers, you pay the price that the store charges. I don't care for the itemized pricing on the bikes either, but it is what it is.

I have customers coming into the shop everyday asking "oh how much is this one" and I when give them the asking price they say "I can get it at this place for such and such". This line of dialog does neither of us any good. There is no relationship being built, and more then likely, the dealership that is blowing their bikes out are the ones that you would not want to return to anyway. Quite frankly, you are setting your self up for a bad experience.
