Now that my Pirelli tires are losing their grip on my 07 Buell....I was wondering what tires should I be looking at to upgrade to? I'm not running the track but I ain't no fair weather rider either. Want quality and and longevity...in a tire. The Michelin Pilot road 2's seem kinda along what I may want...any suggestions would be appreciated. | ||

Tires are a lot like women. Some guys like soft ones that wear out fast some guys like firm ones that can go forever. I prefer to split the middle (  ). In order to achieve this I like the combination of Conti Sport Attack fronts and Conti Road Attack rears. I will not run a Road Attack front since they are made in Korea and have in the past had issues with delamination. The Road Attack rear and the Sport Attack front are both made in Germany and have not had issues that I am aware of. This combo give a good middle ground and are good enough for my skill level. This combo can also be had pretty cheap online compared to other sets of tires. | ||

Good point SF. Some also do Pilot Power 2CT's for the front and and Pilot Road 2's for the rear. | ||

My 07 12s came with Pirelli Diablo T. Very good grip for sure 4500mi. gone. Put on Pilot power front and rear hoping for better mileage,not.4500mi. gone.Now at 15000mi. and need set for front and rear.Tires made for sport bikes just don't get mileage if you use the throttle grip.Friend uses Metzler same problem.IMO  | ||

I'm not sure why you are looking for a different brand. From my own experience, and from what I've read, the Diablo's are a very good tire for street and occasional track days. Seems they have little or no vices vs the competition. | ||

Pr2ct are my fav for a long lasting sport tire. My next set for the uly will be a pr2ct rear w/ a pp2ct front. For me the pr2ct front does not feel as good as the pp2ct @ 90mph+ other than that it is great. | ||

Pirelli makes a decent tire but I have got a lot more tire for the money out of michelins. | ||

"Michelin PP 2ct on the rear Pirelli Diablo CorsaIII on the front" I went into a Cycle Gear and asked for a new Pirelli Corsa III rear because my Michelin Pilot was wearing out and I wanted to switch the front to the Corsa III when that one finally wore out. The manager there asked what I was running in front (Michelin Pilot). He said I was better off buying another Michelin Pilot because the profiles of the front and rear tires are designed to work together for performance, feel, and wear. Is this true (it makes sense to me) or was he just selling me a line? BTW, the Michelins were cheaper than the Corsa III at the time. BTW, I'm on my first set of Pirelli Stradas because I have wanted longevity. I was running Corsa IIIs since they came out but were junk every 3k miles. They are great tires though. Neither the Corsas or Stradas have let go in my most aggressive riding. | ||

the profiles can only go so far off from one another. If they were that far off from another wouldnt there be a noticable difference in preformance?..which isnt good for sales/marketing. They all have to be competitive in this sport. So the radials are not far off from another, atleast not enough to be marginally noticed. IMO I think its propaganda crap for the tire companies to buy only their tire (sales rep) and a out-of-control rumor amongst people out of word of mouth | ||

I,ve got the scorpion sync on my xbstt. Handle good, and get much better mileage than the diablo. | ||
