I noticed on my recent 2,865 mile trip to Death Valley that the odometer on my bike is a bit inaccurate... I found that for every 3 miles traveled, the odometer registered 3.1 miles. Thus after traveling 30 miles the odometer will indicate 31 miles. Therefore my trip was actually 2769.5 miles. I determined this discrepancy using the mile markers on many roads in CA, OR and WA. I thought that perhaps since I was nearing the end of life on my rear tire that the issue would be resolved with fresh rubber... However, I did have to replace the rear in Hollister, CA and noticed that the discrepancy was not resolved. The speedometer appears to be accurate. |

Can any other 1125R owner confirm or deny this finding? I'd like to know if it's just a problem with my bike or across the line. Thanks. |

That seems pretty good for a motorcycle. A lot of sportbikes are off by as much as 10%. |

Whats a mile marker? Really? You can't be serious. It's kinda like butt plug. Define each word, put them together and figure it out. If you can't do that I can't help you because words are all I have. |

Well, I live in CA and don't see em anywhere other than the visibility markers for the fog--but those are only 300 feet. |

If the speedo is so accurate, they the odo should be accurate too. IMO. But then I don't even know what a mile marker is. |

Every interstate in the US has mile markers, Except for I-19 in AZ which was built during the metric conversion push days of the 1970's. They are supposed to be updating I-19 to traditional mile markers. Some interstates have the mile markers in the median, others off the right shoulder. The fact that you've never seen them probably puts you in with the majority of the non commercial drivers on the road. |

Actually, they are super tiny and hard to spot out here in CA, and not necessarily every mile, either. They will have tenths on them quite often. Atleast on state and county roads. |

Thats what I thought too! Yes, I know what mile markers are but just because someone else doesn't...means their eyes are most likely looking ahead! Similar to that waving to other bikers thread! Concerning the odo's accuracy, I wonder if the only real method of verification would be with a gps? There are plenty in here with one on board their 11's...so...who's got time to go out and compare the dash mileage via trip reset/versus the gps? This seems to be the best way to put this one to bed? |

The speedo is very accurate on mine, the odometer less so. This is pretty normal in my experience, as over a lot of years I have checked both - on my cars and trucks, as well as my bikes. Before GPS, I used mile markers - but, FWIW, I have found these not to always be consistent from mile to mile, or even state to state. Best to average over ten miles or more. I would rather the speedo be the more accurate of the two. Jack |

Badlionsfan "Every interstate in the US has mile markers, Except for I-19 in AZ which was built during the metric conversion push days of the 1970's. They are supposed to be updating I-19 to traditional mile markers. " In my travels through AZ on I10, I found a different kind of mile marker....between the East and West bound lanes there is a large gully and every 1/10th of a mile there is a dirt "bridge" between E and W bound....two fold application allows for the AHP to cross over and go the other way and also so the "bear in ther air" has mile markers to gage speeders. has been that way for at least 20 years that I know of |

Bobup, there are no signs with the mm on them? The reason for the mm is mainly to assist in an emergency situation to help emergency responders get to an accident or whatever more quickly. |

Actually, badfan, YOU are talking interstates, WE are talking milemarkers (and odo accuracy, and mine seems quite accurate) However, I don't have a GPS, so I can't help that way. |

My new phone has a GPS and I have a program with a speedometer/odometer. I'll give it a try on Wednesday. Tomorrow is going to be too cold. |

exactly what id suggest. grab your handheld GPS and confirm. from what ive heard, the speedo is incredibly accurate on the 1125. i would imagine the odometer will follow suit. maybe next spring ill tape my GPS to the instrument cluster and do some checking. |
