I know its been brought up before that the rear turn signals are burning out like know ones business. I did want to say there was one small difference with the new ones that I recently installed. They had white tape around the wire conduit. I am assuming that Buell is trying to fix the problem and the white tape is meant to mark the new versions. Has anyone had one of these marked turn signals go out yet? I've had 3 lefts and 2 rights of the unmarked ones go out so far, but I just got these taped ones. Any thoughts? |

I was just wondering as well. Last I heard, Buell was working on an analysis of why the rear turn indicators were so short lived. I also heard that there would be an upgrade (hopefully longer life. That has been a while and I have not heard any more. My plan was to use the cheapo aftermarket until an official upgrade becomes available from Buell. The other issue that was floating around a while back is the "clunk" in the front suspension. I wonder if there has been any headway made on that issue. I thought I heard a "clunk" from mine. Other than that, I think Buell has picked off all the issues that have crept up in the last year. |

There actually was a suspension change between earlier and later 1125 products. I don't know if the change would have had anything to do with the fabled "clunk", but it is set up a bit different as shown in the B-085 service bulletin. It wasn't a recall, all it said was that the settings would be different. So guys with newer suspension are probably just getting a better 'tweak' of the same suspension. My plan was just to keep replacing them till they worked unless my warranty runs out (but that's not for over a year). Keep sending in the bad ones and they will see in the numbers that "hey...something not right. We have 5-10 turn signals blowing out on every bike and they are not a year old. Got to do something." Only way they know to fix it is if it keeps getting warrantied. Also, I'm a cheap bastard and can't be bothered with paying for aftermarket doodads : ). |

I finally gave up. They credited the price of the stock turn signals and I had them order some after market ones. The After market signals were $30.00. I was in for some Dyno work and they applied the difference (the stock signal cost more) to my one hour of Dyno time. So instead $80 it only cost me $25 and my rear turn signals don't fry anymore. |

I'm pretty sure Court said something about this being resolved. |

My 3rd(!) turn signal just went out yesterday. They seem to last about 3-4 months... I would like to get the upgraded turn signals, if they exist. |

LOL...I'm on the 4th set for each side. 3rd set was the worst and lasted me 2 days for the left and 6 days for the right. Whatever...They've not cost me anything except a little time. This is by far the best bike I've ever ridden, and I'd change them every week with nothing but a smile if that is all that went wrong. |

Maybe I should feel lucky that mines has only burnt out twice... And my right signal is still goin strong. Its the left signal that keeps blowing. I cant wait until Buell takes care of this issue... |

I took my bike in to get both signals replaced for the 4th time and they didn't last the 30 minute ride back home before they burned out again. I got another new set of signals when my bike was in for the motor work and they have made it almost 2 weeks now. This is my 5th set. |

I have had 3 replaced and I am going on the last set for about 3 months now. I think the problem has been addressed. |

I think the problem has been addressed. Yes it has. If you have a problem, your dealer should replace them without any problem. |

Yes it has. If you have a problem, your dealer should replace them without any problem. Don't I wish! I asked the local HD dealer a month ago for replacements and was told they are still on backorder. |

I picked up my '08 1125R on Wednesday evening and forgot to check the turn signals. I had given the dealer a list of the known problem areas from all the major forums and they assured me that all was well. I got home and offloaded the bike and realized that I had never checked the turn signals. Well they were both DOA. Called the dealer the next morning and they immediately apologized and volunteered to pick up the bike and replace the turn signals. They over-nighted a set to the dealer and should be there this morning and will deliver the bike back to my home this evening. I was pleased that there were no excuses or arm twisting required to take care of the situation but it never should have happened. I have owned 6 metric sport bikes in the past 3 yrs and this is my first experience with Buell. I am apprehensive but hopeful! Matthew |

Hang in there Matthew. I avoided all the hassle with the signals accidentally. Didn't like the look of the tail area, so I got an integrated taillight from Robert at XBLights. Flawless! The 11s have some small issues, but this is a historic bike already. Re-learn some riding habits, the Buell handles a bit differently. When you're riding, watch for the bike to disappear under you. That's when you "get it" and you'll be hooked on Buells forever. Zack |

Zack - i'm looking at getting the tailight from Robert at XBLights as well. (just put deposit on 09...so mentally shopping) i saw this youtube video for a guy w/ Saron exhaust and he had some REALLY cool turn/brake signals integrated into the side of the rear cowl. Not sure if that's explained properly. They blinked amber for signal and went solid red for braking. Anyone know where to get something like this?? Here is the video - you can see brakes and blinker in first 30 or so seconds: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQlpb8ewnRk Any ideas? TIA and sorry for the hijack! Rob |

That'd be Nick's (BWB screenname = Nickcaro) bike in that clip. You might try contacting him for info/details. |

Just for the record, I have an early 08 that rolled off the line the first week of production. I'm still running on the original turn signals (knock on wood). |

I had a rear turn signal quick working the other day. Its the 3rd one. The 4th one quit working while at the dealership when they were replacing the 3rd one. I hope they have this fixed. If these don't last, I'm going to the after market. |

From Buell and my service dept. Buell has just released new LED rear turn signals that are updated. They have noticed the wiring/LED board was vibrating/seperating over time depending on the bumps, etc. This was just updated recently this month so some of the 09's may still have the problem. I have an 09 CR made in November. I will keep you posted in what I get from Buell and service on the updates and if 09 models are affected, etc. Rob Buell Specialist |

From what I've gathered, there were a limited number of turn signals out there with something not quite right. Maybe a component out of spec, but I'm not sure of the exact details. No way to tell what bikes got the bad units, so we just replace them until the bad batch are out of circulation. I think the early 1125R adopters had it worst, but would suspect all the problem units are now gone. |

I ended up replacing my signals when I bought the tale tidy. I wanted something smaller but still bright. So I found a pretty nice set for $35 at my local motorcycle store. I like them much better than the factory units. |

Smaller is of course better, but the 1125 signals are still pretty sweet for OEM units. Have you seen the big yellow things on the CBR models? Yuck... |
