Love-Hate...Love-Hate...Love-Hate. These words define my relationship with my Buell. Something new rattled off yesterday. And this is a good one. I went and test road a 1125CR yesterday.( befor Betty blew up) The tires were REALLY new and greasey, so I was weaving along to clean and warm them a bit. Thats when I got pulled over. In a town with No Mercy, Fife, WA. He asked me how long I had been riding. I told him" from just down the street, at Desperation." He said no how long have you been riding motorcycles. 43 years sez I. Hmmm sez he, and goes back to his SUV cop mobile. After what seemed like a long time looking at his dislpay screen he gave me my liscense, and told me he wasn't gona write me. For improper lane travel. Told me they don't not write tickets in Fife. So it was probably because of that innocent test ride that Betty tried to commit suicide. Went to the store, every things fine. Leave the store and can instantly tell somethings wrong. Idleing to high, throttle wont open all the way. Makes new, horrible clanking sound when she rev's down... I get home and I'm thinking 'throttle retun cable broke'. Duh, that sounds logical... This morning I start checking... cable seems fine on the injector end... throttle control end is fine... I start 'er again, same story, clanking is comming from in side the breadbox. Start cursing and removing said box. Pull off snorkle. Butterfly seems to be at a slight angle that it shouldn't be. Check-check-check... The brass piviot shaft has broken, sending a small piece of brass into one of the cylinders. Isn't that special. Really, really special. So,... I'll keep ya all up to date on Bettys up-comming surgery. |

Damn Galen, that really sucks... Question about the pull-over: were you changing lanes or doing the maneuvers all within one lane? If in one lane then he had no grounds at all to pull you over because a motorcyclist has full use of the lane they are in. I heat up my tires like that often. What did you think of the CR? Glad to hear your financial outlook is much improved! |

My wife and I just returned from a 2,865 mile trip to Death Valley Nov 12-19. Had a good time except for the multiple problems with my Buell; her Harley was FINE. I recorded about 15 hours of video with my VholdR camera. Have to process and edit it all together into a really cool movie... I hope to have it done before Christmas. |

Caloo Calay, Oh Frabjoyus Day! Useing the latest in high-end diagnostic technology, (a flashlight), and after extensive explorotory surgery,(I looked again) there is now a new prognosis for Betty. NO METAL IS MISSING FROM THE FREAKIN' PIVOT stop ENGINE IS NOT DESTROYED stop So I'm back in Love... what a fool, I know. The manafold is of course NOT rebuildable. But a new one is only $100. Spookily resonably priced... OK Paul, wha' happen' with your R... |

Rear wheel bearing (belt side) went out at 80 mph. Hadn't even made it to Salem, OR. Rear wheel was damaged because of it. Repaired at Paradise H-D/Buell in Tigard, OR. They had a new bearing and scavenged the wheel from an 1125R on the sales floor. Plugs were fouled the morning we started into Death Valley. Ran hard for about 15 miles and used the built-in plug hot cycle mode a lot of times to clear it up. Continued to use plug hot cycle throughout trip to prevent problems. Noticed rear tire showing cords in Coalinga, CA. Replaced the Metzler Z6 with a Shinko R006 at Cycle Tire & Wheels, Hollister, CA. Wife ran into me while parking in Gold Hill, OR and broke the left rider peg. Had to move passenger peg up to rider position. She paid for a replacement peg from H-D Seattle in Lynnwood when we got back on Wednesday. Right radiator pod upper bolt kept backing out causing radiator to separate from bracket. I think the bracket threads are stripped. Fixed (for now) with loctite borrowed from a tow/truck repair business in Rice Hill, OR. |

Yep.... We did have some fun! Thank you for a 'funtastic' time Bob. You and Steve were great company. The 1125 was, once again, flawless and handled amazingly well especially after the suspension tech guy got done making some fine adjustments for me.
If I could have only kept up with Bobarino! I felt good by late afternoon. My god that track is fun! Cheers, Ron |

I have discovered the stash of Medical Grade coffee in the ER at last! You only have to smell it to be up for a week, a demitass cup and I start cleaning out the bone chips from the crematorium. There are some really weird places tucked away in the dusty corners of the sub-basements. Since there are hardly any people around it's easy to go snooping around. Gota run and save a life.... more later |

What thoughts have we on IMS? Jaci and I are coming down. I expect Jim and Harve are as well, but travelling separately as Jaci and I will be staying south of the line for an extra day or two to sightsee in Seattle. |

Well it wasn't exactly a track day, but a few weeks ago I went through a two-week police motors school. It was tough. Hands down the most physically and mentally demanding training I've gone through. Basically it all comes down to clutch/throttle friction zone, head/eye placement, and bike placement. Some things that were hard to get used to was keeping off the front brake in slow speeds and especially doing lock to lock turns. The most fun was the high speed emergency threshold braking (where I gained the nickname of Midas for my deft braking abilities with which I consistenly out-braked the ST1300's with the KZ1000 (with two pot calipers no less!). Pictures and a couple video clips here: http://s96.photobucket.com/albums/l193/ericsg/moto rs/ |

The only way this is going to work for me is if we go down on Friday night and come back on Saturday afternoon. Or going down EARLY Sat. AM and coming back the same day. I have a function on Saturday night that I can't get out of. SUCKS. Eric, Nice job wheeling that big KZ around. That pavement looked wet and cold and even had painted lines! Now there's on the job training that you can use. I will be making time to do a couple of track days next year and I'll need to plan well in advance. Are there any tentative plans under discussion?

Once again the Gods smile down upon me and I give thanks to Baal and his celestial helpmate, The Flying Spagetti Monster; for they have arranged a shift-switch on this friday, 12-12-08, allowing me to work a day shift instead of a Grave. This will afford me the chance to party with my Fellow Freaks Friday night, and not have just gotten off work in time to crawl into Bob's trunk for the ride to IMS on Saturday. Praise Saturn, and pass the ammunition! |

But I digress....When I first saw this, I thought this guy had pedophile eyes. Turns out, his name is on a sex offender list! Anyway, it's worth watchig for the last 10 seconds. Galen...my condolences. |
