Hello. Thought I'd drop in and say hi. Has anyone found a shop willing to do custom seats for our bikes yet. I was turned down 3x this summer. I'd like to get a custom with a pegasus on it with a gel core (to hopefully lower my bike a bit more). Thoughts? |

There've been a couple of threads that indicate that anything that fits a firebolt will 95% fit an 1125... That may open up your search. Rob |

Dude check out the power toomuch thread. I use a pucker sponge. Its soft, plyable, and comforms to the cheeks quite well. Oh, its absorbant also! Its helped my sliding also! Serriously, Jessie James @west coast choppers could be help. Also go online and gogle search corbon seats, they're in daytona Fl. They can build anything! At last resort, sew your own, its a challange and time consuming. Just remember to count your stiches! Good luck. Be safe. |

The Buell custom seat will raise the seat hight, not lower it. |

If you wanted to be creative, pick up the seat pan form FlexiGlass, can put whatever cushion material you want on it and cover it accordingly. This has the possibility of reducing the seat height. The seat pan is not inexpensive, but thats the price of customization. Just a thought.

This guy did mine. He shaved it to match shall we say my lack of padding. He did it on a Saturday out of his shop charging $40 while I watched. Much better. He said if I sent him the pan he'd build it to suit. He does a lot of international & exotics stuff out of a shop behind his house. Here's his sight. The guys name is Robert. http://www.roberticustoms.com/contactroberti.html Les |

Sargent Seats in Jacksonville, FL does good work. Their website has a good guide to seat customization including prices. |

1125chick, Not to get too personal here but how tall are you and what is your approx ride weight? I'm 5'7" & 155#'s suited up. I tip toe on a stock 11R with the higher side of firm suspension settings. Depending upon how you ride/just cruzzin'/sport riding/corner carving/racing...there might be options still unexplored for you to try. Curious to your posts...I remember a while back you posting this same concern. PM if needed... PS...there are also a lot of males, by the way, that have similar wonders, so your not alone here... mm |

Psycho Seat Co. 8500 Dyer Street Suite 9C El Paso, TX 79904 Phone: (915) 751-5326 Try them. They will fabricate almost any seat. And they are pretty good. They made one for a friend of mine out of aligator skin (not my cup of tea) and it turned out very good. |

Thanks for all the advice. I'll check out the sites. Slyp-I opted not to sell "Diablo" for a Screamin Eagle Fat Boy. I was extremely frustrated after 2 recalls, countless days in the shop and babbled, "I dunnos." I paid hard earned money for "Diablo" and she burned me, quite literally. No really, my legs were burned from the boiling friggin gas. Anyway, I will have the 2 additional recalls done (this will be 4) and if she doesn't behave, I'll reconsider the Fat Boy in the spring. As far as the seat issue, height is not the problem it's the racing design of the seat which means a wider width which means the riders legs are spread farther apart=poor foot hold for those of us vertically challenged. I can one foot at stops but I'd like to be able to actually park my bike fairly safely on a backwards incline. For the curious, take your seat off and look at the top of the seat (rests against the tank) I think it's called the "cowl." There is mass amounts of excess plastic in there. If the plastic is shaved off and foam removed and replaced with a gel pad, I think that will be the ticket. I don't have the guts to do it myself. It's not rocket science, well then again.... I did heed advice of another blogger and bought these goth boots with 2.5 inch treads. Quite stylish but not conducive to riding or walking for that matter. Anyway, until I hear from someone who has actually done a seat mod on an 1125, I will continue to explore ideas and hopefully find someone who will carry it out. Reducing the pre-load helped a bit but I've opted not to fuzz with the suspension because thus far the mechanics of the bike have not given me much reassurance.

Michelle: Take a look here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/400733.html Rick did a GREAT job on mine. It made a WORLD of difference. He can customize the seat to you. If yo go that route, let me know I have a spare seat you can borrow. Neil S. |

I ordered a big roll of carbon fiber seat material off the net and its some nice looking stuff. sometime in december where there is 3 feet of snow on the ground and i cant ride ill be reskinning. Not only am i changing the look of the seat but im adding a half inch of Premium Medium High Density from http://www.foamandupholstery.com/Open_Cell_Foam.ht m Im also adding a gel pad donut to help stop and lower end bleeding after the long rides. I dont like the plywood feel of the stock seat. |

1125chick, Understood your post...and I can't imagine myself strapping on a pair of heels...that is the line for me! Nice to know your still attempting every option with Diablo tho! You are right in not altering the suspension settings TOO much to compensate but FYI, there has been a few new tidbits of info that suggest lowering the front end, outside of the owners manual, as to actually benefit handling...mags tho and you gotta do the trial and error method which I don't recommend... Who knows what might be in the works for the rear this early on as far as suspenders go... Perhaps a custom suspension tune or setup is in your near future. Nothing is impossible...come on... Based upon your most recent post, I looked at my stock seat (it has never been a comfort issue as I've a very small backside and its hard...so I can ride 300 miles or a little more without pain, even if I can't flat foot at stops) but you are correct, it does have room to be modified...time will tell what a possible solution is. If anyone is attempting the same, I'd suggest the foam that is available via the Hobby market. We used to use a real nice product for radio controlled airplane/car receivers back in the day...highly dense and oh, sooo thin, stable and "cushion-eeey(!)" It can be found at any well stocked online or local hobby vendor dealing with R/C airplanes, cars, boats and like stuff. Good input Chick, perhaps we can all work on this some more. P.S. I'm sorry 1125chick but I have no idea what a "fat boy" is, nor do I wish to trade my Buell 1125R in for one! ...Best of wishes on adapting/modifying yours, mm |
