I just got back from down south, (I travel for a living). When I left 2 weeks ago, it was great riding weather, now when I get back,it will not stop snowing. I'm really jonesing for a ride. Usually you get to go for a ride that MAY be your last for the year, but I missed it. I'm just hoping for a break in the weather long enough to dry the roads. MAN this stinks! |

Winter is what separates the men from the boys. Time to man up and buy some farkles; spending money on sh*t you really don't need, and wasting time you really can't afford to waste, so you can delude yourself into thinking you are actually planning for something great for the bike, once the weather breaks. Works for me. . |

I agree. This winter is going to kick all our collective asses. We had record lows as far south as Birmingham this week. I haven't seen a "real" winter in TN since 76. |

Look at it this way - If you do get your ride the bugs won't be too bad (but there probably will be some). |

It's well below our average high here in Tennessee. I'm waiting for that global warming to kick in. |

It's because of Global Warming that the weather is so cold. A Global Warming zealot told me so! |

Time to turn the garage furnace on and heat it up. Just got my CARE package from American Sportbike. It has an XB9 primary kit along with a K&N air filter and some lyndall brake pads. When I'm done I'll open the garage door and unleash all the hot air because I believe in doing my part for global warming! Al Gore for president!! Oh wait, that's been tried before and didn't work... |

19 F here right now not counting the wind chill. Much colder then I was ready for. Ruff winter for sure but there will be harder times ahead with the weather. Good time to pull the bike inside and start farkeling. (Message edited by bertotti on November 20, 2008) |

Global warming is a misnomer. The climate change will manifest in extremes of both hot and cold with stronger and more frequent storms of all types. This is true becuase I believe it. |

Yeah...climate change is all our fault. Just look what happened the last time we had severe climate change. All the dinosaurs died. Dang reptiles must have been driving some really big SUV's to wipe themselves out. LOL! |

Oh well, the dinosours all got their due. We burn their sorry carcasses in our Ulys now 4.4 gallons at a time. Maybe 12 million years from now an intelligent cockroach will be burning my carcass in a Buell XB120000X rocket pod. |

Snow? I don't know how you guys make it through winter back there. Can't imagine going for half the year not riding. Sometimes I think about moving to Idaho or Montana for a change + hunting, but these threads bring me back to reality. |

I like the snow claw! However, I wouldn't have a use for it unless I moved back to NJ, or Ontario. We get "snow" once in a blue moon here in this part of Texas. |

That's what you get for living in the "icebox of the nation" isn't it? I rode for you during that warm spell. I had to sneak out of work and had a cold, but I did it. Anything for a fellow rider. |

Chadhargis, I'm not talking about fossil fuel use as the major factor in climate change. I am talking about deforestation and the destruction of ecosystems. The more it progresses, the wackier the climate is going to become. |

In the 1770's and again in the 1850's we had the little ice age, and in the 1930's we had the dust bowl. Climate is cyclical by nature. . |

Keep destroying vegetation and see how cyclical it'll become. |

Wouldn't emissions of large quantities of CO2 provide a heavy boost to this "vegetation"? |

Welcome to the Pacific NorthWet, where your December is just like your May, only colder. Yes it does rain here a lot, it keeps the tourist honest about their motivations to come visit. |

I'd like to thank the US Army for sending me to beautiful south east AZ for the winter. I'll post rides of the southwest to keep you all motivated for the upcoming spring. Uncle Sam will get even with me next winter. By sending me to Ft Drum NY for 3 years to make up for the "gift" he gave me this winter. |

LOL Rotor! Enjoy it while you can! We will quickly be into our "winter" weather of (gasp!) 65 degree days. Be ready! Get some heated gear, put some screws in your tires for additional traction, etc... |
