Is there any reason the Uly flyscreen and windshield would not bolt on a City X?

Propower418, I will PM you about the windshield I am using, I assume that’s why you made this thread.

Ochoa, it’s to cover my ass. I got pulled over a few months back for doing nothing. Cop tailed me for a few miles in an unmarked Durango, I didn't speed, didn't wheelie (somehow), kept the rear down too. I got stuck behind an old BMW in the left lane of a 3 lane each way road, we were doing 35. Flashed the dude a few times, didn't budge, so I downshifted and a quick blurp of the throttle I passed on the right quite spirited to not give the guy a chance to think "Oh let me move over to let this nut that wants to hit the speed limit by".

Of course the cop behind me wasn't thrilled of my maneuver, lights on, sped up to catch me. I pulled into the right lane, so did the cop. I was sure she was pulling me over at this point so I pulled into some kind of "pit" off the side of the road.

Usual license and reg, "Do you know how fast you were going?"
I said "no, but before I made that pass I didn't want to make, we were doing about 35. I didn't want to get run over, and the guy wouldn't change lanes so I took a chance and quickly made a dangerous pass. I doubt I even broke the speed limit doing so."
Officer: "I had to do 90 to catch up to you" Here I am thinking, she didn't have to, as even if her Durango could of hit 90 in this short time, it would of been overkill.
Officer: "You were also tailgating that car. If he slammed on the brakes you would have went through the window."
My jaw dropped at that point, we were going slow enough I could have jumped off the bike and stopped it with my bare hands on the tire. Besides that, there was a good school bus length between me and the car. Hell if anything, I would have gotten crushed in a BMW and Durango sandwich. She went back to the police Durango, came out a few minutes later with a ticket for following too closely. She said she was being nice and didn't give me a ticket for speeding. Yea hard to give a ticket for a crime I didn't commit, so let’s give him a ticket for not being a squid.

Went to court for it, spend 3 hours in the court room, she didn't show up. End of story, I got the cam because I fill every time I ride, one of these days I will get pulled over for passing illegally, but the video will show otherwise. Also it would be nice if I was in a wreck, insurance company could prove the ass hat ran a red light to turn me into a new grill accessory : )

Yeah I'm trying to get a break from the wind so I can put some real miles on it and I have not found anything I really like.

The one from Cee Bailys is ok but not my first choice.

They also have flyscreens for S that's 4.5" taller than stock. I don't know if you've seen those. American Sport Bike has those.

You could fit the Uly flyscreen to your S model easily if you also change the instrument/headlight housing that the screen attaches to. There is no reason why these parts are not interchangeable and you can still use your original instruments & headlights.

Trojan any idea of the cost to do that? I like that idea better than buying another windshield to break in the closet like the last one...I got careless at one time and caught in the the door one day while closing it and SNAP!

I have a Uly screen bolted up to my Ss. You just need to drill four holes and you have the Uly mounting holes showing. Works great, way better than the little S screen if you ride long distance and reduces buffeting from cross winds and other vehicles on the freeway. Several others have done it and there are posts about it if you search.

Oh yeah, for me it was way too expensive to change the whole Uly cluster to mount normally... although the outlet would be nice to have.

Why go through all the work of a new flyscreen instead of using a Laminar lip?

They work well, and provide a nice balanced look to the front of a Cityx

Jamie,

Do you have a close up pic of the windshield? How far above the flyscreen does it come?

Thanks

Here is the manufactures website
http://www.laminarlip.com/xbs.php

The shield mounts with 3M Dual Locks (sort of industrial velcro). You can mount it where ever you like.

Most like it high up, I personally like it down a couple of inches to leave my helmet in clean air.

Quite a few of us have them here. Search for "laminar lip" and you should find some informative threads.

Check out Spitfire Wind screens. Not to costly, fits right behind fly screen. Had to fab longer brackets to reach mounts on 12s. Was a little short for my height. Took a 3/4 cover flat helmet shield cut it to desired shape & height to mount on top of wind screen, shield was cut to snap on screen up side down to use snaps. Snaps from a old helmet drilled off and pop riveted to top of screen for attachment. Made clear and tinted ones. See my profile to get idea. Computer kicking my arse, can't seem to get better pictures in this electronic box. #$#$*#@--.
