my 99 cyclone runs great and handles awesome, however when i get up to 120-125mph the front end shakes just enough to make me back off on the throttle every time, no handling issue at any other speed-does anyone know if a steering damper will really help? | ||

Yes, ceck your fork setting too, ie... pre load that makes all the differnce some times. Also tire balance. | ||

My X-1 used to shake real bad between 120-130 mph so I installed a hyperpro active control damper and that cured it. It may be my imagination but it feels a little better in the turns now too. It was a little salty at $425.00 from ASB but it's worth it. Justin | ||

I would check the rear preload before doing anything else. Not enough sag in the rear steepens the steering head angle and results in the head shake you described. It takes two people to check it correctly, & is often overlooked. Hope this helps. Let us know what you find. | ||

My '00 m2 gets shakey at 110, by the time it gets to 115 its smooth as hell, try riding through it. | ||

Or too much sag in front, or a too tight grip on the handle bars, or loose fitting jacket, or loose steering head bearings, or poor wheel alignment... lots of potential causes. | ||

i'm about a month late on this post but i thought i would still put in my two sense worth,its taken balancing the front tire,neck bearing adjustment, correct preload setting,playing with the suspention settings,a steering damper and finally checking the rear wheel alighnment and adjusting it to get all the high speed head shake out of my 99 m2 | ||

Yeah, I know the feeling. My Blast just is not as stable at 120 mph as it is at 90. So I just keep it under triple digits as much as possible.  | ||

I've found my X1 runs much more stable with a good bit less preset than called for in the owners manual--i.e. when fully laden of two-up. I usually tuck down and press the insides of my forearms against the tank--seems to "stabilize" well enough for my pocketbook... |
