"blacklightning" you are a braver man then I. I woke up and saw the temp at 26F and said F that. My cut off is actually about 40F. But in my own defense I have a 37 mile commute all Hi-way. so it kinda sucks (Message edited by punkid8888 on October 31, 2008) |

It was supposed to be 47 this morning, but it didn't feel that cold. It felt colder leaving work at 10am. I work a half day on Fridays and go in at 5am. Just yesterday it was in the low 30's! I had no tires on the bike at the time, so it was an easy decision. |

I'm sorry, but you guys are stupid. I went out the other day it was 40(32ish windchill). Got about a mile or two, said F*** this S***, turned around, parked it in the shed, went in the house and played some Call of Duty 5 Beta on the 360... w00t (Message edited by mr2shim on October 31, 2008) |

Wuss! Just kidding- riding when it's cold is just a matter of having the right gear. Of course, if you're commuting, it's also a matter of having the TIME to put on the right gear. That's really the only thing I don't like about riding in the cold- feeling like the Michelin Man when I walk out of the house. That and SWEATING while I'm putting all the gear on inside before I can get outside where it's cold. |

hahaha yeah i hate being all sweaty putting on all the gear! It adds a lot of time to your day putting on and taking off the snow suit..... |

Living half my life where there is 2-3 feet of snow every winter I find it hard to even leave the comforts of my air conditioning when it reaches above 80 degrees. |

What winter gear are you guys using. I have been in Florida and will return to Virginia next week. The first thing I will do is ride but its getting cold. |

i have a harley jacket and fxrg pants. buell gloves that i wear with a glove insert to keep my hands warmer. helmet. usually shoes for the commute, but for long rides i use my military jump boots. to keep the wind off my neck i have the buell neck gaiter, but found that a regular elastic head band for a woman work better because its smaller and fits perfectly in the open space between your collar and helmet. for the above cold temps, i wear a fleece under my jacket. this keeps it tolerable for my 30-45 min highway commute, but i'm still pretty darn cold. Summerland B.C. Canada The hwy to my work has been closed for over a week and they don`t anticipate it opening any time soon.A large fissure has made it unsafe to travel.due to hwy construction. But I`ve been riding a 4x4 road only adding 2.5 kms to my overall commute but it adds 10- 15 minutes. My regular commute is 45 kms and .5 hr.The only other way from Summerland to Kelowna is a logging road but it is a 2 hour drive. It was -3 c this morning and there is a threat of snow! It is about 5 c now and rain ,I hope the hills aren`t too bad .I`ve been lucky enough to borrow a buddies 2008 Suzuki drz 400 for the ride. I added grip warmers and wear my heated liner ,rain liner and jacket up top and Helly Hansen underwear, fleece lined jeans and rain gear on the bottom. I have to admit , it is kinda fun dirtbikin to work , I make sure I throw in a few jumps and wheelies but don`t want to crash . (Message edited by Pinball on November 04, 2008) |

Sadly, an allergist's appointment (they bitch me up one side and down the other if I ride in to get a shot) and rampant black ice put the kibosh on riding in today...it was about 28 this morning. |

Mid 20s coming home tonight (25 miles, mostly 65mph), and when I shut her off the fan didn't come on. I love cold weather riding, but hopefully I never have to ride in snow. |

Snow in the hills here. I would have rode into work, if I didnt fry my clutch from riding off road over the weekend.... At least the bike will get 'mildly clean' before it is fixed . . . In Nebraska we have 25, rode around till the sleet started in the afternoon. The dirtbike gets spiked cleats tomorrow for winter roostin! |
