have not don it my self, but a friend did it on his R ordered a CR speedo, plugged it in his R dash ... wait for the timer to count down ( 30 sec. ) and you will have a gear counter on your R it's little, but never the less it's there odo meter reading will be the same as you had, reads the data from the ecm have not tried it my self, but the guy knows what he is doing i suspect it uses the rpm/ speed parameters to determent what gear your in ( like so many after market gear indicators ) |

It just makes you wonder... if an "anonymous" post had been made prior to the release of the 1125R asking members here how important a gear indicator would be- it might have been standard on the '08's. BadWeB has the potential to give BMC real insight into the wants and needs of the buyers of products in development. We're here and obviously willing to share our opinions. Ask us first... avoid changes later. |

The 1125r was pretty much a done deal by the time it was unveiled to the public back in July '07. As you might remember, BMC was EXTREMELY tight-lipped about the new platform. I doubt a larger company could have kept the secret. BMC does definitely monitor these boards and listens to our input as the most fanatic of Buell owners. I remember yours truly made a comment very early on in the summer of waiting about how nice a gear indicator would be and others did as well. I agree there are GREAT ideas here that can make a better BMC product. |

It's not just the cr with the gear indicator, the 09 r has it also. A few people here already have a 09 cluster on their 08 due to warranty issues. |

09 cluster is about 300 clams. put one on the track bike that came without. turns out that it had less than 1500 miles on it when i got it. it locks itself to the ECU after 30 minutes of power on. have not looked at the gear indicator while on the track. tim |

Have had an 09 IC on Loretta for a couple of weeks and I like the gear indicator. Like Tim said, 30 minutes and the ECM and IC "bond". The clock is a countdown timer, when it hits zero, you're good. Z |
