I need new pads and rotor for my front and they aren't cheap!!! $225+ for rotor and $40+ for pads! Dam!! Where you guys buying your stuff at? My front rotor has a couple cracks and I don't like to ride thinking of what could happen. I'm also getting some clicking noises from somewhere around the front bearings but its not all the time. Its not the speedometer but somewhere around there. Thanks. |

Pads and rotor are still cheaper and easier than what I'm going through - physical therapy from a sudden stop due to physics, not braking. The clicking could be your rotor - are you sure it's around the hub? I know the one on my S2 made all sorts of gawdawful noises when it was wearing out. I've since replaced it with an EBC rotor and LOVE IT. Check with Al at American Sport Bike - he's a sponsor, standup guy, and carries top-notch stuff. If you have questions, he'll have an answer |

Oh, I'm coming along fine. If my helmet would ever come off intergalactic backorder, I'd be out again already Everything attached, still working (albeit with some scars and titanium), walking again...got nothing to complain about. At all. Rotors are a bit pricey...but think about how long they last. Stock buttons notwithstanding, of course. |

Rat- Take a look at your pad wear and make sure that both pads are reasonably evenly worn. My understanding is that some S2's came from the factory with somewhat buggered PM calipers - easily fixed with an affordable caliper rebuild kit. Motorcycle Online had this problem and cracked a rotor. On my S2, my pads were unevenly worn - and I had a cracked rotor. Now, I'm not saying that's what definitely caused the problem. I'm just saying it's something you should probably check out. -Saro |

I rebuilt my caliper last year (the piston/seal kit is still available thru Buell, BTW); pads are even. The button wear was rotational, not side to side - I could grab the front brake, hold it tight, and roll the bike back and forth nearly 1" that rotor was so loose on the carrier. The one thing I don't have (wasn't there when I bought the bike) is the center bolt through the caliper. It runs the same way as the pad-retaining pins (and goes between them), but it's a bolt. Anyone have an idea/source for one? I called PM and they were NO help - they asked me to send them measurements for the pin. I said "I dunno - it's missing. It looks like...", but that wasn't enough for 'em. <shrug> |

I went with an aftermarket rotor. I wanted to keep it stock, but I wasn't going to dish out the crazy money for a stock rotor. www.braking.com

did a ebc disk change ( with Pm caliper ) on easy's bike.. man the original disk weighs a ton.. did have to shim the caliper because the offset was a little of ( only a little ) |

The center bolt through the caliper is a 1/4-20 socket head 1 3/4 inch long. The spacer is 1 1/8 inch long, 1/4 inch ID and 7/16 inch OD. |

The clicking is most likely your speedo cable needing lube. |

Its not the speedo cable. If it were i would hear it all the time. It doesn't happen all the time. I need to lift the front end more to investigate. Where can I find a cheap front end jack? (Message edited by 97s1 on December 01, 2008) |

My garage has drywall on the ceiling or else I wouldve done that along time ago along with my punching bag. The ladder is a great idea! I'm definitly going to give it a try. If I had a cherry picker id try that also. Thanks for the great ideas! |

Since you're not going to shock-load the straps, and they're not SUPER-heavy, you should look into some of those heavy-duty utility hooks that screw into studs, to hang things like mountain bikes and ladders off of. I've used them as points in a pinch in the past - just make sure they're in a good stud, and again - don't shock load the bike (knock it around while it's hanging). Another option would be an eye bolt to the stud, with a D ring shackle through it for the strap, or just run the strap through the eye bolt. I also wouldn't leave it hanging for too long - any time my bike is hung and I'm done for the night, I lower it onto a couple jackstands somewhere underneath it, so it's sitting overnight instead of hanging. Although now that I have pitbulls...they stay on the stands, usually with one 'high point' safety strap to the ceiling. (Message edited by ratbuell on December 01, 2008) |

Thanks ratbuell for the advice. NOw that I know how I'm going to get the front end up I just need to find a good price on the rotor and pads. Beachbuell I tried navigating the site but couldn't find anything for my 95 S2. I'm guessing this place in the U.K. or something? |

I have a nice used 2000 and up stock rotor I would sell for $90 if you are interested. |
