This system of "Archive through" date is really annoying and badly designed. A forum bulletin board should allow you to select a topic and optionally a sub-topic and then allow you to read the ENTIRE thread, even though it may require a number of pages. This "Archive" thing doesn't allow a smooth reading of all of the topic that you're dealing with on a thread. |

I cannot agree more strongly. For three years or so now, we've been patiently waiting for a major new release of the existing Discus forum software, but it has yet to transpire. We're fixin' to make a major investment in converting the entire existing BadWeB forums over to vBulletin. We already have VB installed and running on teh server, and are hoping to go live with a thoroughly upgraded site and forum before Summer is out. |

+1 for VBulletin you got one contributing member right here to help cover costs. speaking of which you need to do that with VBulletin, have a premium membership that costs money/donations area, im sure there are PLENTY of people around here willing to part with a couple bucks to help you better the BadWeb community |

Hey Blake, how about for the For Sale section we all setup Heatware accounts? I have one from a billion years ago that i had setup. It works like Ebay feedback, you rate people when selling/buying/trading. I know i buy without thinking twice from a badwebber, but still it would be nice to have some assurance. A recent thread about someone getting scammed out of parts in a trade is the reason im posting this. http://www.heatware.com/ |

Froggy, With VBulletin, I believe Blake will have the option to turn on our BadWeb specific username feedback system. Only for here though. I mentioned heatware to someone around here not too long ago. Blake, btw, if you happen to need another mod for when vB goes live, let me know. I'm a mod on one of the computer forums, but I don't frequent it much anymore since I don't use/don't get too much email about problems going on. |

Not sure where to post this, I swear there was a bug section at one point. Anyway, I cant link to http://www.fo okes.com/ezthumbs/ Obviously without the space :P I get this error Error Formatting Error There is no closing brace for the code \ newurl{...} Looks like because "foo k" is in your swear filter, it kills the URL. Not to concerned about it, but if I end up using it a lot i will get a tinyurl for it |

I suggest that the posting above is a blatant commercial exploitation of the site. I needs to be punted with force and vigor . . .and its author needs double secret serious banning. YMMV |

Saw that as you were typing and disposed of it with vigor. "I needs to be punted with force and vigor " Hehehehe. Freudian slip? |

Blake, I have only been a registered user for a couple of years and lurked many years before. I use the "User List" function a lot to find Buell riders in Colorado and noticed inactive accounts seem to never go away. I doubt there is a way to delete a user after a set time of inactivity, without a moderators actions, but if there is it would be nice in order to have an up to date listing of members. I have always thought it was odd that I can view most every thread without signing up. I would have signed up a lot earlier if that was a requirement to view the threads. I do appreciate the BadWeb very much. Without you and your moderators efforts this would be like many other boards with 90 percent BS and 10 percent content. I have used the information on this site a lot. Seems like I learn something new each day watching the threads on the BadWeb. Thanks, Frank |

A lot of people work the other way, won't sign up. There is another Buell forum I was looking at, I read maybe 4 threads, then it popped up saying I need to sign up to see any more threads. Screw that, I am busy enough posting here. |

We regularly cull inactive accounts and move them to the "inactive" folder, but don't delete them. They just go to the inactive folder. I do this about once a year. |

Been getting this a lot lately, whats up with it? No big deal I just hit refresh and its fine, but sometimes I click submit then minimize the tab. I don't find out till a few minutes later. Again nothing I am worried about, is it the server saying I pwn too much? |

Thanks for the heads-up on that. I'll ask our sysadmin about it. |

Hi Blake! Jim Jelinski in Miss'sipp here. I'm new to the site. Looking around the various pages, I have a suggestion. I believe this would be a help for someone looking for a good Buell dealer (or looking to avoid a stinker) but who does not have all day to troll through the dealer reviews. This might be someone new to Buells, or a site visitor, or a BWB'er who's on the road and needs to quickly locate a nearby GOOD dealer. I hope that this would not take TOO much time on your part. On the 'rating dealers' page, post a map of the US, or a link to a map. On the map, place a marker- a target, pin, flag, whatever, on the map at the dealer's location. Color code the marker with the average of the ratings for that dealer- maybe green for good and red for bad, or whatever looks good to you, with a brighter color for a stronger rating- a really great dealer gets a really bright green, as the ratings get less and less enthusiastic, make the color duller, so that a so-so dealer gets-say- black, and as the comments go negative, make the marker a dull red, then a brighter red, then really bright red for a dealer that is universally condemned as a stinker. In addition to color, you could make the marker smaller for fewer different people's comments, and larger for a dealer that has more comments. (I say different people's reviews, to prevent one sore-head from running up a big 'bad' score on what may be a decent dealer.) You might also place markers for independent shops that work on Buells, perhaps with a different shape marker. You could expand on this- make the map 'zoomable' so someone on a trip could scan the country, zoom in on the region they are in, then the state, then maybe down to the local street map. Maybe if they click on a dealer marker, it could pop up a window with the dealer's address and 'phone number, and web address. Anyway, my 2-cents-worth! Thanks for a Great site! Keep the Rubber Side Down! Jim |

an eazier way to update the dealer's page is to organize the comments by state or region. |
