Can someone recommend a good Web site to purchase Buell parts online? Good pricing would be nice, but what I'm really after is in-stock footpegs and turn signals.

Thanks in advance.

Are the Lightning footpegs the same ones used on the Ulysses, or are they different? If so, how are they different?

Thanks in advance.

Different. Lightning pegs have a 1" drop from Firebolt pegs, but the general design/shape is the same. Ulysses pegs have the same 1" drop, but the cleat is different (wider for more foot contact).

Here is what the two look like:

The wide ones are the "Uly (x)" pegs. The narrow ones are the lighting "s" pegs. Both of these pegs have the 1" drop.

I like the Uly pegs because they are wider and don't dig into my boots/ feet after hours of riding. The cleats on the Uly pegs are not so aggressive that you get your boots caught on the cleats but, they still keep your feet from sliding.

The 09 Ulys have different pegs than previous years. They are grippier

XB pegs have a wider mounting pivot than Uly pegs, too. Tried putting XB-R pegs on my Uly and would have to grind the pivot narrower to get it into the Uly mounts.

I like them Uly pegs. Would it be possible to put them Uly ones on a Lightning without having to modify anything? If not then anyone able to tell me what would have to be done. Ty ^^

Yeah the 09' might be grippier but they are 2X the price of the silver ones and I have not had any issues on the street!

Ulynut, I don't have enough band-aids for those!

The Uly pegs should fit just fine. It's about a 10 min. job, including clean up ;+}

I dont know where to post this but here goes-Eagles Nest Harley Davidson/Buell-in Lathrop California SUX! I've spent the last 3 weeks trying to get a RECALL on my bike taken care of. 2 trips to the shop,3-5 calls to the shop, 3 calls to Buell Customer Service later and I'm still waiting for them to get the part-a part they said was out of stock, had problems manufacturing, could take at least 2 weeks maybe longer. But when I call Buell Customer Service they say "we have those in stock we sent 6 of em to Eagles Nest 3weeks ago, If they used those and need to order more they'll have em in a couple days" WTF?!?! Screw Eagles Nest. I'm goin to another shop.

Thepunish3r, sorry to hear about your issues. Indeed, get a different dealer. Not sure how far it is for you, but check out Ray Price, Skip Fordyce, or Glendale. I have not personally used them, but I have heard good things about them. Hell, I can name them and I live in NY, that should tell you something : )

I am going to take it to Peninsula HD/Buell in Redwood City. A 110 mile ride via back roads(I live in Modesto CA). Should be a fun, but long, day.

too funny [er, ironic]

in '99, I worked almost across the street from San Jose H-D, but they sucked so huge [even worse now - no longer a Buell dealer]
that I shopped instead at Mitchell's in Modesto, some 2 hours away from an area blessed [cursed?] with many H-D dealers

the main reason for Modesto was Donnie himself & the dealership's [then-]active 883 dirt track & pavement racing program

the secondary reason was the ride over & back - it's great !!

I live in RWC now, just up the hill from Frank & the Peninsula shop - when exactly are ya comin? - PM me for cell, etc

Yeah Mitchels stopped dealing with Buell all together and Modesto Ducati picked it up for a while but now the nearest H-D/Buell is in Lathrop, then Livermore, then the bay area.

I think I'm gonna drop it off tomorrow or the next day but might not make it til this weekend, definately by Monday at the very latest I am takin Del Puerto Canyon rd(west of Patterson) to 130 into berryessa so it should be really fun. Send me an email with your number an we can meet up if your free.
Keith

Damn I hate doing this, BUT I gotta let everyone know I received a call today from Buell Cust Svc and guess what??? They were wrong and Eagles Nest was right SO I have to apologise to em, cause up until today I had been getting 2 completely different stories. The parts are being shipped from the vendor to Buell tomorrow or the next day. I'm still gonna take my Blast to Peninsula HD/Buell BUT no hard feelings. Right?

Hi - I'm new to this forum and have a simple question .. hopefully simple enough. I need to replace my left front signal lights and have the part to do so but need to know how to do it .. Does anyone here know how to replace signal lights and can help me out. I don't want to have to spend $$ at a shop if its something simple. I'm a chick that doesn't mind getting her hands dirty and oily. Thanks Much

The electrical connections are just some bullet terminals. Just wiggle the terminals until they pull apart. There is a nut that holds the signal to the bracket.

Anything else we can do?

Bohn Body Armor

Worth the cost?

Easy to get in/out of?

Durable?

I've got a cold weather riding suit that works great for me, but it has no armor. I can wear my armored gear under it, but my range of motion and comfort are greatly reduced when I do so.

Any feedback is helpful. Thanks.

Mreztoy- Welcome to the madness. And don't be afraid to ask for help. Especially in the Thumper forum. As an aside, a factory service manual is just about a must-have, like a helmet. Take your time, will be an easy job.

Tginnh: Got the Bohn, Love it. Had it about two years. Personally don't wear the shirt much as the Jacket does the Job, but wear the pants a LOT under jeans when I don't want to put the full leathers on.
