Ok guys need some real information. I have been told by Deeley that the mirrors folding in on my bike is a "known" issue, however they will not warranty it because a bulletin was sent out to the dealers that if they were folded in more than once it constituted "misuse".... What I would like to know is has anyone been able to get the '09 version mirrors on their '08 bike under warranty? The '09 mirror is a HIGHLY superior system from what I can tell (we just got our first '09 1125R in at work today) |

Never asked, just put some thread lock on the pivot bolt under the rubber. Never moved again. |

Buell replaced both of mine under warranty. The told me that mirrors are not supposed to blow back. The ones that they replaced them with will not move until a much higher speed. The original ones would move at highway speeds going against the wind. So maybe 85 90 miles per hour. The new ones move just a little "in a fifty mph wind". I don't think that they would put mirrors on a bike that folded back if it was going to be not allowed. Why would they fold back then. Course then again, you up in Canada. It's colder up there... and the air is more dense... Naw. |

Good news Bearly. It builds confidence to hear stories of normal expectations being met. The DYI approach on a new bike just kinda seems wrong. |

RDG: same issue with the high bars on the CR. I never realized how damn sexy the crook of my elbow was, but now that I've spent a week or two staring at them, it sunk in. Bar ends are in my future! R |

"I don't think that they would put mirrors on a bike that folded back if it was going to be not allowed. Why would they fold back then." They made them to fold back so that they can fit in the motel room with ya.

If folding is your only problem with these mirrors, pull them and peen the rivets. If you mash the big rivet, it tightens the stalk or replace the rivet with a nut/bolt. I had other issues and replaced them with Firebolt mirrors. Ran the signals to the running lights in the fairing.

I like that the owner's manual explicitly instructs you to adjust the mirrors by manipulating the mirror surfaces, NOT by moving the stalks. Apparently, those are the bike's "private bits" and only the bike itself is allowed to move them. For the record, on my bike only the right stalk folds back. The left is solid at all speeds. Both of them are totally useless as rearviews. Include me in the group hunting around for good bar-end mirrors. |

I recently added the silicone sealant all the way around between the mirror glass and mirror housing. I think it was Ccryder that I was copying for that... Anyway, below 3500 RPM, it still vibrates enough that I can't make out what is behind me. However, 3500 and above is surprisingly clear. I am now able to play the "guess what make/model" game from time to time. |

I'd be happy if I could just see the flashing blues and reds behind me so that the LEOs wouldn't think I was trying to outrun them. |

I don't think there is enough mirror area for good rear view, even if they don't vibrate. Zac, do the XB mirrors have much more viewing area than the stockers? I too may go that route unless someone, makes a better mirror/signal combo that you can actually see behind. |

I think so. I like the Firebolt mirrors, I see pretty clearly in them. Seems like 40 bucks for the pair, drops right into the mounting holes. Either use the running lights like I did or get a set of metric lights. I ride close to 50/50 sitting-up or tucked and like to have a mirror all the time. Grab and yank, the mirror's where you need it. Z |

Carbon - if you do get away from the OEM CR mirrors, send me a note. I'm debating putting a set on my Ulysses, to make room down lower for aux lights... ![: )](http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/clipart/happy.gif) |
