Would stronger foot pegs hurt anything? After breaking my foot peg during a low-side two weeks ago I ordered a new foot peg @ $36. After that a visit to the Metal Supermarket got me 4 pieces of remnant billet aluminum almost the exact size I need to make my own for less than $3. Now that my new peg is here I'm working on making my pegs. They surely don't look as nice but will probably be stronger. So now that I have them half built I'm wandering if the cast pegs are designed to break-away to save the frame mount. Or can you think of any other problem with stronger pegs? | ||

I agree with your questioning. I'd rather loose a 36 dollar foot peg than a frame mount or worse tweak the frame. | ||

These fold nice in a low side. Plus the peg ends are replaceable.  | ||

+1 on the idea that pegs are supposed to break. Can you imagine the damage that might be done if a peg didn't breakaway on impact? Just use your passenger peg as a makeshift to get you home. | ||

Yea, I did that Sept First when I got run over by that "Hyabuslab" (they can't stop with an 11). I had the XB12Ss pegs on (see pictures at Peg Pics). They break off as well. When you take the rear peg off, be careful not to loose the little plate and spring in the dirt like I did. (Message edited by bearly on October 31, 2008) | ||
