Hi, I'm replacing the outer clutch cover on my '08 1125R with the Rev B ('09) clutch cover. I need the part number for the hydraulic piston... the equivalent '08 part is X1086.1AM. Any help would be much appreciated (I'm still waiting for my '09 parts manual). Thanks! |

Is there a problem with the current piston? When I replaced my cover with a rev.b I ordered the upgrade kit. It contained the cover, puck, o-ring for puck and emblem for puck. That is all it came with and all that was needed for the swap. |

Spectrum (Bryan) posted recently that now the piston has been redesigned for the Rev B clutch cover... check out the thread: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/403745.html?1224171431 Bryan gave me all the part numbers *except* the actual new piston part number... that's why I'm looking into this. Big headache, I know. Didn't want to have to do all these extra steps, but it now seems necessary... (Message edited by pariah on October 27, 2008) |

Takis They sent me home on the third attempt to install the clutch cover telling me they had to order the new piston. On the fourth visit the replaced the clutch cover without replacing the piston. I believe the tech was in error on the third attempt and a conversation with Buell straightened that out. Bottom line they did not replace the piston and I don't think the part has changed. |

Bryan, Thanks for the update! This is good news... maybe all I have to do is slap on the new puck, O-ring and cover, then, just like Ken was saying. Just to confirm, then: all those extra parts, like the piston linings, retaining rings and those O-rings, that were on your work order, to wit: CE0006.1AM - Ring, Retaining CF0001.1AM - O-Ring CF0007.1AMA - O-Ring DIN 3771-45X2-N (x2) CF0010.1AM - O-Ring CR0001.1AM - Piston Lining CR0002.1AM - Piston Lining H0412.1A0 - Crush Washer Are unnecessary, since the piston isn't being changed out? This would be my conclusion from looking at the '08 parts manual (exploded view of outer clutch cover). Thanks, Takis |

Takis, All those parts were replaced. Below is the list of parts that were on the work order that were not used (backed out). I assume these parts were replaced to address the leaking. If your just replacing the cover and do not have a leak, then yes you may not need to replace all those parts. CF0023.1AM O-Ring, DIN 3771-17X2-N R0009.1AM - Gasket X0077.1AM - Seal, OIL A 20X35X7 FPM |

Ok just to reiterate one more time. I did not have a leak. My cover was damaged in a low side. I had my dealer perform this while it was in for the 5th gear oil jet recall. The part number for the rev.b "kit" is R1029.1AM. This contains everything you need "if your clutch cover is not leaking". Trust me my dealership does not have any additional parts in stock. They did not use anything else than what was contained in the "rev.b kit" or the oil jet recall kit. |

OK, great... Then R1029.1AM is all I need, since I'm leak free... thanks Ken. But it looks like I'll be getting some 2009 Parts and Service Manuals for literally no reason, now. Oh well, that's what ebay is for! |

It would be beneficial if somebody could post a definitive list of all of the parts needed to fix the leaking clutch on 2008 11Rs. Please ? |

Sportster, There's no guarantee in fixing the leaking clutch, because any one of the O-rings or seals could be defective. If you are really determined, you could replace every gasket/O-ring/seal from the R0009.1AM gasket outwards. These parts, except for the clutch cover itself, don't look too expensive. The parts are: R0009.1AM (gasket) CB0027.1AM (thrust washer) CE0006.1AM (retaining ring-- on Spectrum's list) CF0007.1AMA (O-Rings--- you need 2 of these) X0087.1AM (sleeve) R1029.1AM - Rev. B Outer Clutch Cover Kit (pricey, and maybe not necessary) CR0001.1AM - piston lining CR0002.1AM - piston lining X1086.1AM - hydraulic piston (includes previous two parts) CF0010.1AM - O-ring (only if you don't get R1029.1AM, because that kit provides its own O-ring) CF0001.1AM - O-ring CD0020.1AMA - nut X0077.1AM - Seal, OIL A 20X35X7 FPM A "just in case" part (from Spectrum's lists): CF0023.1AM O-Ring, BUT this is NOT shown in the picture on page 44 of Parts Manual Check out the '08 parts manual, and you can see most of these pieces all in exploded view. Anyone please chime in if I've missed anything or have gone overboard... (Message edited by Pariah on October 28, 2008) |
