Separate question - which is the CHEAPEST way to ditch that airbox?!? What replacement, and where? I might get flamed for saying this, but I don't care if I get a sidewinder, chrome disc or black oval box as a replacement air cleaner, I just want to clean up the lines of the bike. No need for any performance increase. The cheaper, the better. I've only seen stuff in the $150-$300 range, these things can't be THAT expensive to make?!? Also, I have some remaining exhaust leaks at the header to muffler pipe and elbow to canister joints (White Bros E-series) even after tightening the straps. Any tips there? Muffler paste? ;-0 Thanks. Now all I need is weather other than 38 degrees and raining. Yuck, yuck, yuck. O |

Ok oliver here goes, these are my OPINIONS, so take them as you may, dont blame me if your bike blows up: No, for ME they dont seem to fail to often, but on some sportys i have heard different to clean up your lines, try painting your air cleaner/box, did mine and looks good, and cleans the bike up real nice, bt thats me,and i have an S3T so the fairing may make a difference as for sealing the muffler i use forma gasket copper for exausts, avaliable at the local parts house, stays flexable, sealed my trap up tight on to the jokes\ later Roger |

Peter, Steve, sprtster list was having some piston melting problems with the fuel available. I don't have more details but there was some bitterness exchanged between him and BNI on fuel issues. Hopefully will get more info when he has recovered from the travel and last event at Maxton this weekend. Paul |

Paul, That will explain it. Aaron, Thanks for saving me $50 on those pellets. I've seen them and have been tempted to try them. The lottery numbers didn't fall my way this year. Any ideas on how to get a green card? PPiA |

Uhm, is Buell Corp advertising on BadWeb (and ATC)? Wow they rejoined the Internet revolution! Now if only they'd repost the factory tour with Erik and the videos they had of him explaining the bikes & company... |

Yeah Court, How about a dual pic of the bike, one over the other. showing both sides with everyones name. And then maybe have it signed and numbered by Nallin and Wilson. I'd find a spot in the living room for that. Thanks, Ed |

Blake, Point well taken. I was lazy. And not that familiar with this board's "divisions" (we have a similar one for our cars, but nobody ever reads the "sub-lists" so questions are best posed on the main board). I'll end this with a quick comment that in trying to find ONE simple part for the Buell, I've been quoted three different prices and availabilities by three different dealers. I'm starting to understand why it's hard to keep these running (and fully expect the part that comes in to be wrong). And don't get me started on what it's taking to get the 4-year warranty transferred. Sheesh - it's easier to get a PhD! Off to the KV. Thanks. |

Court, I have the first poster signed by all you guys, I do remeber the fun you had trying to track that sucker down when it went to the Nallins. It would be real nice to have one signed by the principal players. Aaron, brian, court, woz, henrik, Dave & jim. The logistics of getting all you guys to sign a hudred posters does seem complicated. Take your best shot, whatever will do fine. Knowing I had some small part in something that turned out this grand is all I really need. Paul |

Hell yes to a shirt and poster!! Condratulations to Team Elves and all the Buell and Harley riders at Bonneville whether they set records or not. The mechanical, engineering, and riding skill required for their acheavements is enormous but the time and dedication required to bring such an effort to the salt while maintaining any sort of normal life is even more so. Ataboys to every one involved and lets givem hell next year. The last couple of weeks here with all the negativity and pissing and moaning have a real downer. Its been so bad that I've been thinking of taking my S1 behind the shop and shooting it, before it gives me any trouble. Reading the Bonneville congratulatory posts I could feel the spirit on the board rising, it was just what was needed around here. Thanks Team Elves, the lift you provided was just what was needed. Again HELL YES TO A SHIRT AND POSTER!! |

OH FREAKIN' WOW!!!!!! Are you guys watching the National news right now (4:50 p.m. west coast local time)? The FBI is ripping up a back yard in Tacoma, Washington looking for clues to the Washington DC sniper shootings. This is happening at the 3300 block on South Proctor St. and I live on North 10th and Proctor. The area in question is a lower than average income, blue collar, neighborhood less than 3 miles from my house. I can see and hear the news helicopters from my back deck. I'm a bus driver, but my gas tank is full so I guess I'm half safe. I say again.....OH FREAKIN' WOW!!!!!! |

Dear Aaron (consumer reports) Wilson- Hey I really appreciate the input on those various devices. I am a tinkerer and will try things for the heck of it but don't have access to a dyno. Most of the time I figure that they are just the gimmicks that you have proved them to be. I work with a guy that rides a big twin. Every once in a while he'll whisper "hey Mike, guess what I did to my bike last night?" It's the Splitfire, Torque valve......etc. And every thing makes his bike run like a raped ape (at least he thinks so). Did you ever test a Yost Power tube? Since I run a fuellie I'm not more than just curious, but I've never seen a real test on one. |

Hey Mr. Team Elves Marketing Guru, A.K.A. The Patch Police, or more recently know as, how to clean your canine in 1-2 easy (yeah right) steps: How about a "record patch"? Maybe something that looks like this: I would go for 3-4. Plus they would bring up-to-date any previous "Team Elves" logo goodies from years past. Just a thought and too much time on my hands. Anyway got my shirts today and they look GREAT. Later. Neil S. |
