Friends, this is the bike I bought. The bike I've been riding has been O.K., but this is EXACTLY what I was hoping it would be. Upright riding position, cushy enough seat. Ridiculous amounts of power. Comfortable enough to ride all day, for several days. Home Run.
Just for reference, I recruited this good looking fellow to pose so Y'all could get an idea about how much more upright the riding position is. It feels just about like a dual sport, but more comfortable, and with 3+ times the power.
All is right in the world. First significant road trip on this bike to the www.texasmile.com Gonna be great! Y'all have a good weekend. Rob |

This is the way the bike should come from the factory. The lower bars should be optional. BMC did it backwards. |

BMC did it just perfectly, seeing as how the low bars are perfectly comfortable for 12 hour days. Carbon - bars look good - they're narrower than I expected, which is good. |

The width did surprise me, XL. They are just about the same in that parameter as the stock stuff. But the change in the range of motion WRT the steering axis is a night and day difference. Not good or bad, but compared to what I'm used to, this works WAY better for me. A guy I work with noticed that the "chicken strips" that were about 3/4 of an inch a couple of days ago, are gone. Amazing what a difference your comfort level can make! Rob |

Looks good! Is the bend of the bars like the Lightning bars, just less rise? |

I dunno, guys, my experience at freeway speeds is that upright isn't right, especially on a naked. Lean over the tank at speed and you'll see the speedo climb -- the rider is just one big sail. Especially with such a, ahem, full-sized rider! So I have opted for the R and its big front cowl, fully intending to lay down on the tank when traveling (and I've been known to use the passenger/pillion pegs when doing so). |

My take too Red. I rode the first CR we got and loved it up to about 80-90 mph. Then I was wishing for Loretta's fairing. Zack |

A bike with a fairing versus a naked,...isn't this really a personal choice, based on your riding preferences? Both have advantages,.....make your choice. Personally, I have owned both (Sportster 1200, Bandit 1200, FZ-1, ZX-12R, SV1000N, and ZX-10R) and lean toward the naked bikes as the best for all-round fun. But that just me. The CR, with the raised bar option looks like a winner to me. Dave |

i'm with dave on that one. personal preference. if they don't make a true 1125r based sport tourer. i'll prolly add the bars to the cr. 24000 miles on the firebolt has be looking for a more upright seating position. randy |

You're right on the up to 85 or 90 thing. But in the course of my daily life, I really don't spend to much time North of those speeds. This is the perfect setup (IMHO) for around town, with freeway speed commuting, and the occasional trip. WRT the stock bars on the CR, I can still get as flat as I could with them, just with a little more comfortable position! There's no where to tuck in, but I can get as close to under the plastic as I could w the stock bars. Did an 2 hundred something mile day trip, and I am sooooooo loving it. I want to add the traction grips from Buell, and Ulysses pegs, Mod the exhaust, and I think I'm done! (Riiiiiiiiight) Rob |

Red, I haven't ridden Carbon's CR (yet), but I can tell you that there seemed to be no downside to the taller bars at highway speeds...we hit mid 100's several times and from my view...LOL...it didn't seem to be a problem! |
