So I tried to do some research on the brake recommendations for an 05 xb9r. I read a few stories that didnt like lyndalls. So I believe that I have decided to go with EBC's. Does anyone have any other recommendations or suggestions on brakes. I am looking for fronts, and have found the 345HH's (EBC) to be reputable . Any comments? Thanks Alex |

'04 XB12R Purchased at 4k miles, changed from stock (shuddering) brake pads to Lyndall. Cleaned the pad residue from rotor with steel wool. I prefer Lyndall pads to stock: shudder is significantly less. |

Not digging the lyndalls on my bike. Started squealing with more than half the pad thickness still there. Has always made this odd whooshing sound, and they have no initial bite. If you get the EBC let us know how they work. I want some new pads really bad. |

I rode 150 miles with Barkers R equipped with EBCs. The initial bite is HARD. It was shocking at first how hard it was. If you have a tendency to ham fist the brakes, the EBCs will give you a nice donkey punch. I prefer the Lyndalls even though the maximum brake force is slightly less simply because the brake bite is linear. Pull the lever a little, get a little brake force. Pull the lever a lot, get a lot of brake force. I have had a little squealing, but it comes and goes. It's not indicative of worn brakes. |

I wish I would have bought the Lyndalls. American Sportbike didn't have them when I needed pads so I'm stuck with the garbage stock pads for now. |

For street riding I prefer Lyndalls to reduce the "panic" brake effect when a car pulls in front of you. For track time I like EBC for controlled and strong initial bite. My Lynd's don't make any different sound -- but they do require a detailed break in. Brake pads are cheap and easy enough to change out so get both!!! |

Got the Lyndal's and wave rotors, they freaking rock! I love the buzz sound I get from them when I grab the brake, I hear it over the Micron and ear plugs. "What in tarnations is that harley thumping fan whirling buzzing brake monstrosity?" |

thanks everyone, another couple questions: How long did your stock pads last (front), and how long have the EBC's lasted? thanks, alex also, once I put on the new brakes, what is the best way to break them in to ensure best life, and braking ability? thanks, alex |

The good news is that Lyndall is now saying their brakes no longer require that detailed break in process. Just install them and go. Never tried the EBCs, but the Lyndalls are DEFINITELY superior to the stockers. According to Al Lighton, if you ride primarily on the street, go with the Lyndalls. If you ride primarily on the track, then go with the EBCs. |

My stockers began the usual studder at less than 5,000 miles. I replaced with Lyndall's. I ran them for about 7,000 miles. I have had the latest set for about 5,000 miles. The EBC's do take a while to heat up. |

I've got 8000 miles on my stock pads with no problems. I want to put new pads on this winter when I change tires again. Hmmm, what to do? G |

5k out of the front stockers, rear are untouched cause I hardly ever use them. I threw lyndall golds on the front, very happy with the performance. It took a couple rides to get used to the buzz, I kept on forgetting that it was the pads buzzing! ztl2 would be a great upgrade |
