Got home with my new '09 Uly Sunday afternoon. The heat was not a big issue, outside temp was about 84 degrees F. Didn't notice any surging. Now, to ride. |

Whoreatio, Once you have a few miles on it, please report on the fuel mileage. Buell reports 51 city/64 highway on the website and I want to know how true that is. My 2008 is averaging right at 40 mpg with 8K miles on it. |

My 2008 is in the lower 40's with 10,000 on it. Seems to be just about as good as it gets. My 2000 X1 still gets lower 50's with 83,000 miles on it. |

Congrats on the Uly. I have an 09 XT with 2200 miles on it. Love it. FYI. Mileage report: Consistent 43-44 mpg. This is in mostly commute with mixed highway and city (70 mi round trip). I've tried high rpms (keep it above 3500) and low rpms. No big difference in mileage. Going to try running without the bags sometime. I hear that makes a difference. Can't wait to hear your report so I can compare. |

The Uly fuel economy data page: http://www.njdot.us/buell/ulydata.php I have beaten the advertised fuel economy, even with my performance mods. |

I have an '06 Uly and get 52mpg in town and about 60-62mpg on the highway - if I ride like a small 4cyl car scoots along. In town it all depends upon how you twist the throttle (2,000-2,500rpm), and on the highway you keep it at 60mph or a bit below in 5th gear. Otherwise, have a little more fun and twist the throttle. At lunch you twist the throttle some more to get back to work in time. |

Wow...2-3 years ago I just didn't think about a 2009 model of the Uly. What a concept! Welcome aboard - start posting! |

Checked the mileage on this new one (sorry to rub it in). 41.1 mpg. That's mostly highway mileage at 75+ mph and its got less than 300 mi. The low fuel light came on at about 150 miles. I could get a bit over 50 on my 99 M2. |

I demo'd 2 new Ulys in the last week. An 08 and a leftover 07. I kinda wanted an 08 with all the updates but was concerned about ECM issues and gas mileage. The 08 stumbled while acccelerating from low rpm but ran strong above 2.5k rpm. 33 MPG over a 50 mile ride, easy throttle - mostly backroads and some highway. 145 miles on ODO. The 07 seemed to vibrate more but acceleration was very linear with no stumbles. Also got 45 mpg in stop and go traffic with some backroads, also easy throttle. 32 mile ride. 90 miles on ODO. I bought the 07. Will pick it up next week. |

Bought an 08 XT in the faster black and wish I would have bought an 09 and swapped plastics with someone. Love the black engine and trans. Can't believe they would manufacturer the engines in that ugly tanish color for so long. But that is small potatoes. Love the bike and am sure you will also. Congrats |

Just got an 06 earlier this month. Had a hiccup with the rear plug fouling but once fixed, I'm really digging this bike. A lot more fun than the V-strom I sold to get it. |

Hey Svh, I have an 05 12R and bought the cam cover and primary cover for a 9. If you swap them out before you scratch up the ugly stockers, you can get damn near all of your money back ebaying the ugly stuff. |

Thanks for the tip. It was already on my list of possibilities for winter projects. So was taking them off and getting them powdercoated but I think that getting the tan off is going to prove too difficult for that. |
