A couple buddies and i decided to take upon a different challenge. We took our bikes for the first time to the 1/8 mile strip @ Irwindale Speedway in Cali. I was surprised at the performance of my 1125r. I felt the power off every shift but just couldnt keep her down. She would pop up everytime! I know its a short wheel base bike but im sure theres a way to keep her from going up. Anybody out there experimenting just like me and has any tips i would appreciate it so that i can improve my times at the strip. |

Bud of mine is running 1/4 with the same fight going on. I recommended that he strap the front end and fab a solid lowering link in place of the rear shock. Thus far, he's fashioned a thru the front axle part from bar stock/threaded ends for secure attachment points...waiting to hear back on his latest pass. Keep us posted on your runs and good luck! mm |

slip the clutch through take off to sixty feet short shift to second and use the torque not rpm keep your weight forward and down. never tried 1/8 mile but mine is running 10.6 at 223kph over the 1/4 and i'm only just getting into fourth at around 1200 feet.when youre changing first to second the hold slight pressure up on the shifter and it will change into third when the rev limiter cuts in smooth as an auto. It's better to shift in the strongest powerband of the bike, it's around the 7000-8000 revs. There is the most power, hitting the rev limiter is not the fastest way to get at the end of the 1/4 mile. So try to shift about 5 runs on 7000 revs and try to shift 5 runs at 8000 revs and then compare your time slips.. Good luck. |

Slypiranna i agreee on straping that front end and hardening the rear. Keep me updated on the frabrication ur bud did to his front end im highly interested. As of for the rear im might go the a solid stiff strut to avoid rebound. What do u think about that? I also want to look into an extended swing arm |

Thanks Brett u bet ima try wut u told me. I like the idea of slipping the clutch to cut time on the ET's. Ill also keep you updated on my progressions. By the way where do you run your bike and those are some good times youre hitting! NICE! |

Imabuelly, He just used dom tubing that he threaded to accept an eyelet for attachment. Early on, the "straps" were listed on ebay but I think they were removed due to tech/safety issues. If you've got the money and time, honestly, I'd pull the wire ring clips, located just below the lower triple clamp (I believe they are for production setup purpose) and slid the fork tubes up...then PLAY with the adjustments to get the most unloading of the front end... A solid link is ok on a stocker for Drag...if thats all you got to work with but an extended arm w/ a proper shock/spring setup will yield far better 60's. Proven tig weld/fab job is ahead of you my friend! I'd also convert to chain...the belt is beyond a true launch...it'll be lunch soon. Air/Co2/electric shift...and shift from peak hp to peak tq...based upon chassis dyno info. Peak Hp to Peak TQ! This is all if you can afford the effort to dedicate your 11 to Drag only as it'll be $hit ridin around town. Some folks like that tho... By the way, if your working with the stock ecu...remember...every major engine change will require a 175-200 mile "ride" ecu/ AFV adjustment to be credible in Open Loop! My bud learned this the hard way! If this is a dedicated track bike, get NHRA or any other fashion and get approved to purchase a race ecu. That is where my buds at right now! Yes, drag counts as race valid to buy race parts!...just proven a month ago. Keep us posted! mm |

Tas, 10.60's is damn quick on a stock suspender!? W/O corrections!? Awesome! My guy last posted a 10.80 @ +1000' elevation...all stock with front end strapped/max rear preload and on stock tyres. NO corrections...mm |

For people who dragrace (it's my live) I make a free Fuell Map if they send me the race ECM. Sly, good comments. Imabuelly, The cheapest way to do this is go and search for a rear swingarm with damage. There will be people who had a accident and damaged swingarm and will sell it cheap for you. Then find a good welder near you and let him make one. The chain conversion is the thing you want, and enough space to move your rear wheel front and back. Depending on the weather and track you will need to find the best spot for your rear wheel to launch very hard at the start. There is your profit. Good 1/8 - 1/4 times need good 60 feet times. Good luck man I love dragracing. |

Imabuelly, when you had enough of dragracing your 1125R and speed is not enough you take a bigger bike, Here is a movie off me with My first run in Sweden on the bike. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwF1_rWWEcQ |

G'day Ramsay I run at the Motors AC Delco Tarmac Dragway at Poweranna in nothern Tasmania Australia, Ive tried the short shifting and can only get 10.8's as it requires either clutch or rolling off the throttle a bit to change no clutch. Ive found the best start procedure for me is to shallow stage and leave on the last orange let the clutch out then drag it back in a bit and slip it works for me i've had around 30 passes so far. hope it helps you out regards Brett |

G'day Sly 10.628 is my best yet with a crappy .8 reaction time too, the bike has had the niod removed but i run it on street tyre pressures as i have a 80k (50 mile) ride home afterwards it's all good fun. regards Brett |

I took mine to the local drag strip last month. I had never officially drag raced a motorcycle, so I took it kinda easy. My best run was 11.3, but my reaction times were bad (.3 to .5) and I was not comfortable launching it (yet). I would either leave the line with too few revs (and it would bog down) or I would leave the line with too many revs (and stand the bike up). The track surface is so sticky! It ain't like launching it from a stop light on the street. |

I ran 10.88 and 1.7 60' foot time, this was my first time taking my bike to the track. I'm sure there is more in the bike with some more seat time. As sly was telling you about strapping the bike with a threaded rod through the front axle. This was my bike he was talking about here are some pics.

Ima, here is a picture based on the same concept of my old XB 88ci. I kept the first part of the swingarm for the oil and fitment and give it more lenght. and made a adjustment for the rear brake. I also changed to chain conversion. If you calculate the gearing you should change for sprinting the size of sprockets, You only need 1 to 4th gear. My best 60 feet was 1.4 and my best 1/4 mile time was 10.4 (Message edited by easyrider on October 31, 2008) |

DTX i felt the same way at the strip too...hopefully once im done with school i will have more time to race my bike and hopefully converted into a full drag bike. and yeah it is not the same when the track is sticky, that bike will go up in no time. The people love when u pull wheelies at the strip, too bad it reflects on the time slip |

Imabulley, I bought the strap from pingel. Its just a standard drag race strap. All the hardware i bought was $10.00 from ace hardware. Threaded rod, 2 nylock nuts, 2 rubber washers to go against your forks so you don't scuff up your forks from the nuts. The only mod you will have to do is drill out the mounting hole larger to go around the threaded rod. |
