Both of my pods are scratched up, one pretty deep. Any suggestions on filling in the scratches and painting? |

From Liberty HD/Buell: M1035.1AMMAW, RADIATOR OUTER SHROUD, right (arctic white/black bezel) - BadWeb Price = $53.96. (Black is the same price) At that price is it really worth the effort? |

cheaper way is just take some fiberglass resin and fill in the cracks. Sand it as smooth as you can and paint the whole thing with Krylon Fusion. |

Buy new ones and keep the old ones for track days for when you crash again. |

It'll buff out... Small scratches can literally be buffed out. Larger or deeper scratches could possibly be repaired with typical plastic repair methods such as filling with clear acrylic and buffing. You may just want to replace them... They're not that expensive. |

Guess I should have pointed out that it's a track bike now. I've got bodywork coming from Airtech (fairing, airbox, one piece seat) and would like to paint the pods with the new stuff. |

Fill and sand then. You may want to buy a few spare pod covers and have them painted for future get-offs. Then just trade them out and work on fixing them off-bike. |

I was browsing through my owners manual and scratch removal information is on page 148. Procedures to remove minor scratches are provided, but for major scratch removal it says to replace the panel. It emphatically states that you must not use abrasive products or powered buffing equipment because it will cause permanent cosmetic damage to body panels. |

Don't use fiberglass, overkill. Go to a paint supply store and find some finishing glaze, follow the instructions or ask the guys that work there on proper use. Mine has been dumped in the garage three times now (damn girlfriend!) and always repaired it. You would never know by looking at it, doesn't hurt that I work at a body shop either. |
