I just ordered a new front isolator for my S2 and the latest .TA part number is obsolete with no supercession. SO now what do we do, drill out the center of the HarLee part and hope for the best? |

Steveford Yes twice, my S3T and just last week for a guy in town that just bought '02 Cyclone' Look back in early August for the Urethane Iso thread. I ended up buying Naustin's '01 S3T because of that thread and I wasn't really looking for another bike. (Message edited by Jramsey on October 22, 2008) |

BTW its best to ream the hole in a lathe if possible because of the -79Ds hourglass shaped bottom half. It only takes about 30 seconds to do. |

l0501.ta is in fact obs., however if you punch the original part# in (at the dealer) there is a supersede that's current. original # is 16207-79b which supersedes to l0501.2 is still an active part# and should be able to order on the 24th (been on b/o a little while), so anyways you can go to the after market (i suggest a.s.b.) using the 16207-79b for reference, or wait a couple days and order a l0501.2 from your local dealer or badweb sponsor dealer (precision/hd/buell). from what i've discovered (having replaced mine on my m2 recently), the l0501.2 is a repackaged 16207-79b, whereas the l0501.ta is a manufac. named lord with a part# of j-21920 on the part, beyond that, the parts are nearly identical. btw i have 2 of the l0501.2 on order (b/o till the 24th) and one of the l0501.ta in stock. |

If you buy a FRONT ISOLATOR with a "BUELLschitte" Part Number, be sure to look on the isolator for the HARLEY-DAVIDSON PART NUMBER(it is on there some where) and you will then know when it was last up-dated letter by the -??(? the leter)number ... This is RETRO-FITTED from the "BIG TWIN" front motor mount ... The "BIG TWIN" sets on it while the BUELL hangs from it ... |

Tripp, Thanks for the clarification. I have a .TA coming from Indiana, we'll see how long that one lasts. If that craps out, I'll give Al a call. |

It cost around 17 or 18 bucks, I sure hope that the newer version is made in the US and lasts longer than the previous ones. So far my record has been 15,000 miles and all is good on the X1 and S1. 10,000 miles and the S3 was trashed, can't say for certain if the S2 was original or not. |

Just to add to this post but when can you tell that you need new isolators? Curious because I have over 25k and have never had them replaced. When reading this thread I feel like I should have them replaced... |

James, Look here http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/397886.html?1222075248 for some photos of a very failed isolator. |

For the record, L0501.TA does require drilling out the bushing with a 9/16 bit. Wish I would have checked that right off the bat! The joys of rubber mounted motors... |

"Just to add to this post but when can you tell that you need new isolators? Curious because I have over 25k and have never had them replaced. When reading this thread I feel like I should have them replaced..." You can look up under your front end, use a flashlight, you can see if the rubber's torn. You don't always feel excess vibration. Best to look. As for the part itself... not to beat a dead horse... I got a standard FXR front isolator from Drag Specialties, 20 bucks, dropped in with no mods. |

"PN 16207-79D-fits with no drilling required." Dunno' about you but I always had a tough time getting a .500 bolt to go through a .4375+ hole. |

I wasn't knockin' him, I thought he might have used the 16207-79D for its intended purpose and not for a tuber replacement. |

Actually the Blast version sucks - 1/2 the the time they go bad ASAP the other half - their fine - and thats doing one side by side - lol - thats why I and others have been running the Stock number Buellistic recommended - so any ignorance I have is of course from what he didn't tell us - his usual - m.o. - lol - Of course I will admit to using Blast hardware which has been upgraded to 8.8 hardness - I buy it new with each replacement - so that may be the difference - though why would be beyond me since a single vibrates even worse than a twin.
