I picked up another S3 that I was going to strip & sell. But.... So my new thought process is to convert into an S1 front. It should be a somewhat easy process. The forks are the same. I'll need to remove the fairing; fabricate some type of dash; mount some crossroads race bars; add some custom headlights & an S1 or X1 wind screen. I may even go with the new XB9S front end I'd have myself an inexpensive Cafe Racer/track bike. I need something to do this winter. It gets too cold in WI for too much else Mennis |

Dana . . .sorry brother, I shoulda tol' ya . . . . sometimes this place is like a Russian novel . . . most folks got more than 3 or 4 names . . . . soon as I figure out zactly WHAT i'm gonna do to the poor innocent scoot, fire a flare and beg for help . . . . it will, however, at the minimum, consist of retro-fitting old, slimline tank to the Ma Duece (saving the swollen guppy, er, manta tank for longer rides), and some sort of tail section, again, likely a butchered slimline M2 tail and seat . . . . . . after all, if we weren't sposed to mess with our sccots, why do we have winter? |

Dennis, if you need any more help with the front end fabrication, let me know. I've already started a new winter project myself on the X1. Sounds like the dealers are giving good deals on firebolts and blasts. 0% financing with 0 down until next summer. If I was in the market for another Buell, I would consider. |

Bomber... Thanks for the assistance. Actually, all I need is recommendations and sources on tubing, fittings and filters. Don't want to buy the wrong stuff and have a melt down. LOL |

Bill I used banjo fittings (into the rocker boxes)from custom chrome (approx 20 bucks) ,some report constant weeping from them, but I used cooper washers and liquid teflon tape and they're pretty oil-tight for me) . .. . any kind of oil line (3/8 id, if I remember right) will work, no chance of meltdown so long as you don't route them on top of a header tube . . . . you can either use two lines and two filters (there is anecdotal evidence that two lines relieve pressure a bit better than one), or TEE the two lines together and run one filter the little K&N filters are available at ASB, or through any harley shop . .. Hal's may even have them in stok (your home base, I think?) run the lines generally downhill from the banjo fittings, push the filters into the lines and yer down . . .. line rounting can go darned near anywhere -- my opinion is the further back you can get em, the better, althoguh Brent has his sitting next to his battery, and I've never ever seen any oil film there (Brent's bike wouldn't DARE leak, right Brent?) You can go Hollywood, use braided hose, fake hose end clamps, and what have you -- depends on the look you want and the number of nickles in your change jar gimme a shout with any questions |

Bomber... Thanks for the info. Appears to be as simple as I thought, but better safe than sorry. Well, off to Nieman Marcus and Bloomingdale's (my interpretation of a modern day HD/BMC dealer) to get the necessary parts. Have a great day!!! Bill |

Bomber, "after all, if we weren't sposed to mess with our sccots, why do we have winter? " We have winter cause we don't have enough sence to move to a better climate. If God intended us to live in this climate we would be covered with fur or feathers like the animals. Sam Sam Scolastico Illinois H-D/Buell 1301 S.
