I have all reflashes done and a charged battery. I have the security system set to ASK. I can't get to setup mode. I tried disconnecting the battery - no go. Any ideas? |

I had the same difficulty after I did my own oil change. It just takes some thumbing through the service manual to reset the service counter. Instructions are in the controls and indicators section toward the back. Resetting the Service Odometer -------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Refer to Regular Service Intervals: 2008 Buell 1125R Models. A reset causes the service odometer to advance to the next service interval. Any service reminder messages displayed during startup are also cleared. With ignition key ON and security system disarmed, enter the setup menu by pressing and holding the Toggle and Mode switches for five seconds. See Resetting the Service Odometer. Press the Mode switch to advance to the SERVICE COUNTER menu item. Press the Toggle switch to select. Press the Toggle switch to display MODE TO RESET. NOTE: Pressing the Toggle switch again will exit the Service Clear menu item without resetting the service odometer. A SERVICE NOT RESET message will be displayed. To reset the service odometer, press the Mode switch. A SERVICE RESET message is displayed. The setup menu will advance to the next menu item. To exit the setup menu, click the Mode switch until the Exit menu item is displayed. Click the Toggle switch to exit the setup menu. The security system must be disarmed in order to enter set-up mode. Disarm the security system first (get out of ask and go to off) and then enter set-up mode. I hope this helps. Thanks Mike. I can get to the ODIS part - but there is no SETUP or SERVICE COUNTER menu items. It starts with VIEW CODES and next are all the live data elements. |

More specifically, if I hold the Mode and Toggle buttons down while turning the key to ON, the View Codes menu option is shown. If I press Toggle, it tells no codes. Continuing to press Toggle, cycles through all the live data readings. At no time do I get to the Setup Menu. I tried disconnecting the negative post on the battery - thinking that would force a "reboot". It did not change anything. Any ideas? |

turn the key on first then hold the buttons down. Holding the buttons down while you turn on the key will enter diagnostic mode. |

Kttemplar is correct you must (With ignition key ON and security system disarmed, enter the setup menu by pressing and holding the Toggle and Mode switches for five seconds.) The key must already be in the on position. If you push and hold both and turn key to on it will always take you to the view codes screen. V/R, Nick |

I went through the same process because I was so used to going into diagnostic mode. For the set-up menu, the key has to be in the on position first and then you have to hold down the buttons. Mike |

I would also recommend putting the bike on a tender over night after messing with the IC. The last time mine died on me was after going into the set-up menu and resetting the service counter and clock. I have also had all the re-flashes. That was only the second time the battery died on me. Mike |

Mike - thank you so much! I was doing the same thing - have been monitoring my AFV values so much I simply forgot how to get to setup mode. Duh. Also thanks for the recommendation on putting it on a tender. I need to ride it in the AM - and a dead battery would NOT be a good thing! PS - I did note my screwing around dropped the battery reading to 11.2 V. So - a night on the tender sounds like a great idea. |

I always mess with "Set-up Mode" with the motor running. Or do it in "Park". Can't be a good thing to run the headlights for long with no alternator output. I'll be able to do this in a day or two. New IC is in, need to squeeze into the Service Bays for 30 minutes to swap them out. My Toggle switch died. Z |
