Not Moto-ST related but interesting nonetheless....

Buell France rider Denis Bouan rode a Buell 1125R to win the Dark Dog Tour and secure the 2008 FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) International Rallies Championship. Bouan won the Expert Multi-Cylinder class and was the overall winner with a cumulative stage time of 47 minutes 03.84 seconds. It was his third consecutive victory in the event.

The Dark Dog Tour is a nine-day, 3,200 km (1,988 mile) rally that began on September 27 and concluded on October 5. The route through France stretched from Reims to Toulon through Val de Reuil, Magny-Cours, Alès and Corsica. The event included 17 special timed stages, on racing circuits and public roads, including two night stages. French motorcycle police escorted the event to ensure safety on public roads. Entry is limited to 220 competitors in a variety of classes. Only 164 racers completed the entire distance, which includes long stretches of riding in transition stages with little opportunity for sleep and strict penalties for timing errors and tardiness. />
Bouan rode a Buell 1125R to a second-place finish in the Belgian Moto Tour in May, and that result combined with his win in the Dark Dog Tour earned him the FIM International Rallies Championship.

“I am so happy to have won,” said Bouan. “We had no problems whatsoever with the Buell 1125R. We succeeded in getting quickly ahead of our competitors, which enabled us to manage the end of the race. I took it very seriously in spite of being the leader. My IRC victory is mainly important for the team. This is one of the first victories at the international level for Buell and I think it highlights the capabilities and reliability of the Buell 1125R.”

I just got back from the track. I could not stay till the end. 1125's had a rough day. Only the #8 bike left.
What a great series. Small enough to be a family atmosphere, not overcrowded. Sat in the stands with Higbee's family.
Awesome day with great racing.

Looks like Suzuki-Ducati-Buell in the 1, 2 and 3 slots. Am I reading this right?

What a battle of attrition. Not just cause two Buell teams dropped, but the top Aprilia team had trouble along the way for sure. The Suzuki was there all the way as was our Buell team. That 848 team snuck up for sure.

We should be damn proud that the Buell was in the top 5 ALL day. From the first couple DNFs, this is great. Over 750 miles flat out.

Bpt--Were there Speed TV cameras there?

Speed TV will re-broadcast the entire season this fall/winter in a summation format at one hour for each event. As long as interest grows, so will the coverage. Can you imagine live broadcasts for the 8 hour event? Should rival all other motorcycle coverage without a doubt!

Go RMR! Keep up the good fight!

There were cameras but not identified as SpeedTV. Probably a contract company. It would be great to see some broadcasting of this race. Much more entertaining than the usual Mladin/Spies 1/2 we have been subject to for so many years.
With all 3 classes running at once you really have to pay attention to what is going on. And with 750 miles, you never know what is going to happen.

I forgot to mention the larger number of spectator Buells in the parking lot and many 1125R's. Good to see the rider support.
