I stopped by a dealership to pick up the washers the bible wants you to replace during an oil change. I remembered (vaguely) seeing that the left and right washers were different part numbers. I did not have the part numbers with me. The dealer showed me his parts manual - it lists the washers as the same part. So - I chalked it up to having a grey haired moment. The parts manual is wrong. Does anyone know how to report this type of problem to BMC? Kinda frustrating to have the bike fully drained of motor oil and try to put back together only to discover the dealer gave you the wrong part! | ||

Tim, I remember seeing an "errata" form in either the Service or Parts Manuals (maybe both)... so Buell does expect to get corrections sent to them. Might be faster just to call Customer Service, I would think. Sorry you have to go through this... I am trying to install the Rev. B. Outer Clutch Cover, and I thought I had all the parts I needed. But thanks to this forum, I learned I have to get more parts, and the 2009 Service Manual in order to do the job right! More waiting! It's already been a month without my ride... Best, Takis | ||

I wonder if we can trade in our old manuals for an updated one with previous errors corrected? Hate to spend $120. for one usable manual. A correction amendment would be simpler. | ||

The drain plugs come with washers. I had the same problem when I went to get parts to change the oil. I had not done it before, so I took every precaution. I have a tendency to round out bolts when I get excited. I tried to order the washer for the drain plugs, but they tried to tell me that they were the same one. They had both plugs in stock so I just got the plugs themselves, to be on the safe side. Both plugs came with washers. When all was said and done, I did not have to change the washers because they were is such great shape. Here are the part numbers if it will help. There is a good chance that they have the plugs with washers in stock, so if you have the washer for the magnetic plug side just lay out $8.49 and get the plug for the other side which comes with a washer.
