I have a problem. I laid my little Blast down a couple of weeks ago and smashed my left signal. I am fine a little road rash on my elbow and a bruised hip. Anyway I bought some dinkywinky lites from Cycle Gear, cut and spliced the cords and they worked for about a week. I went for a 30 min ride stopped to get some stuff and rode off to go home. My turn signals were dead. I called the HD shop and of course they didn't have the relay on hand and it would take a week to get one in. I have a sport bike riders class in two days at this pint so a $9.95 part ends up costing me that and $35.00 in shipping. I blew out immediately. I saw the spark out of the corner of my eye. I bought the factory signals thinking I might have a voltage problem from the dinky lites. I went to Auto Zone and they had a rely that fit, but didn't work. So my question is if I get a factory rely will my signals work. Oh and I did check the fuse. Thanks for your help and time. |

You have shorted one of your signals. The wires are touching each other. You may have burned out a wire. Stop swapping parts and do some wire checking. If you just swap parts and they keep burning out, you won't get anywhere. You'll need something to check for conductivity of the wires from the signal to the relay and to make sure there is no conductivity between power and ground. |

Thanks Reuel.I forgot to mention my horn isn't working ether, is that part of the same problem or something else all together. I did take the left hand control off and had it looked at but I could have messed something up when I put it back on. I've got to ask, how dose that exhaust of yours sound? |

It hurts my ears. Now I wear earplugs. Horn doesn't work either? Sounds like the common wire going to the controls. I don't have my wiring diagram with me right now, so I can't say for sure. You might have burned the wire that supplies power to the signals and horn. |

Bad News. I was in my class showing up the jap bikes when yet another problem came up. The f*#%in carb took a crap. I think the auto chock wouldnt disengage. I don't know but I couldnt get it fixed during my lunch so I had to take it to the dealership (its just a couple of miles away). I now have to go to the next class in november. I did sit in on this class though and saw the best wipe out ever (not that any wipe out is good) but during the put down motion he summersalted and landed on his feet. And to make up for it he came back and finished the course in around 27 seconds. Oh and Wolf the lites on my bike were regular old lites. Anyway to end my story I figured it would have taken me much more time to find my problems than to pay to have them found. The mech at the dealership has a Blast too. |

EZ I was thinking boot as well but I was nice, new, and well connected. It is the carb. The service guy from HD called me this morning and told me so. The Buell guy there is great. He has a Blast and knows them well. I also have an electrical short some where. I will yet y'all know how things work out. |

I have no idea. They said it was the jet job I did. 175 & 48. It ran like a scalded dog for about 2 weeks and one day (three days ago) a damn gremlin got in there and took a crap. I don't know this is my first bike and I've done my home work but I got mad and I didn't want to work on it that way. I had a XB12R on order but canceled the order and decided to keep my Blast. So having a pro work it is in the budget. |

Did one of the jets fall out or something? I'd like to know about this. I'd get all the details possible before giving them money, so you know what not to do next time. It's also useful if they're trying to scam you. I remember on a Plymouth Horizon I had once that they told me the heat from the engine tends to damage the electronics in the carburetor, and a rebuilt one would cost $400+. There are no electronics in the carburetor. There was a vacuum leak below the carburetor. I found and fixed it, and it was like new again. |

If you were to do something to jetting that caused problems, you would notice it immediately after the first time you hit the start button. |

You may find a spot between low throttle and high throttle where it is not as responsive as it should be. It'll seem like moving the throttle from about 1/4 to 3/4 doesn't make much difference, and as you reach 3/4, you'll feel more difference. The shims will give you a smoother power to throttle curve. |
